This is nearly a 50% increase in cost, and while the printer is of much better quality, and paper handling has certainly improved, the quality of the output isn't very different from older and lesser units

Slow, jams, not user friendly, poor quality and BROTHER service is AWFUL!

The quality of scanning of my B&W ink illustrations exceeds that of my Epson Perfection V500 scanner

The quality is good- not quite as vivid as my last laser jet was, but that printer stopped working entirely after a year with no ongoing support, so... there's that
