Am bumping my original review back up to 4 stars.
-
Wish I had paid attention to the negative reviews
-
I'm leading with that since we almost didn't get it because of a couple of other negative reviews from Mac users, but it was easy to set up and works great
-
On the first dozen pages of negative reviews, only four pertained to the 2550 model, and three of those four reviews were wireless problems
-
i think that this is your best review !
-
n’t do them justice when negative reviews are for their previous model
-
Obviously the reviewers at the time never really used their Brother laser printer because the number of negative reviews has skyrocketed.
-
I've read other negative reviews reference this printer and based on those reviews, almost didn't purchase it.
-
I just have to say, after buying this computer based on so many positive reviews, I am really disappointed by how complicated and difficult the setup process is with our Macs
-
I am surprised it had a reasonably good review
-
In particular, I noted the glowing review on The Wirecutter of the sister model which doesn't have a document feeder
-
I saw negative reviews but thought
-
I've had the printer for about four months at this point, so I figured that was long enough to write a fairly honest review (though I'll certainly update in the future as I have more experience with the printer).I'll start by saying that I love this printer so far.
-
I also rarely leave bad reviews, if ever
-
Since I had brother's version of printer before and the fact there were so many good reviews i bought it knowing that I may also find setting it up in the network very difficult
-
Bought this after seeing good reviews
-
This has a lot of in depth reviews already so I will just way that it works great, has cheap 3rd party toner options with good reviews, but has unreliable wifi.
-
As stated in a prior point, the HP cost over $300 and did absolutely nothing to earn this value for our printing needs.-Easy to install: I'm writing this review 8 months after purchasing,
-
Please see other reviews discussing the same issue

I finally selected the Brother DCP-L2540DW after reading a large number of positive reviews.
-
Look at all the negative reviews on
-
Brother must be listening, because despite the negative reviews about setting up Apple devices, the setup was extremely quick and simple
-
I rarely leave bad reviews on Amazon
-
Like other reviewers, I went back and forth on whether to order this model bc of the negative reviews - but when I filtered OUT the reviews for the L2540DW and focused on the newer model L2550DW, I saw some of the complaints (most of which were negligible) and focused on installing the printer via ethernet to make it easier, which it was
-
If you think about it, the wireless challenge is to make a device in deep sleep mode respond to an interrupt signal--something humans don't like to do--and the majority of the negative reviews are expressing frustration with this challenge
-
Being brand new, I cannot speak to the long term reliability of this printer but here are a few things I learned in my research: the older version of this printer, a Brother 2540 model, is the source of the vast majority of negative reviews for this printer--whether the 2540 or 2550 model
-
I ignored the negative reviews in favor of the positive ones but three and a half months into owning this printer, it has completely gone crazy.
-
It prints great B&W and 2 sided as well.
