Neither the Scan nor Menu buttons work

I am able to print wirelessly from my laptop, android phone and iPad as well as wirelessly scan to my computer using the settings on the printer and from the Brother Control Center software on my laptop.

You have to download and run a client application on your machine to scan items, which is annoying as I expected a streamlined scan-to-e-mail function

So now the printer is ready when I need it working as it was intended.
