I gather from other answers that, if I worked very hard, I might be able to solve the Deep Sleep problem even for wireless installations, but at this point, my feeling is, if it's broke and you fixed

am very happy to report that you can avoid the "Deep Sleep" problems by purchasing the relevant kind of USB cable and installing your printer locally via USB rather than over wifi

I am not an IT person and after trouble shooting the Deep sleep problem online I have decided to return this.

The printer sleeps, wakes up when requested to do something, does its thing spitting out good clean b&w print, and then goes back to sleep
