Brother P-touch Home and Office Labeler (PT-D200)

    • It feels like they designed this to waste tape so they can milk you for more money over time
    • Tape is expensive and spits out 1" blank with EVERY label (no, you can't avoid that by changing the settings).
    • A tape for every page--clear, lime, pink, silver, gold and a font or frame to suit every emotion.
    • The 2 negative qualities above are pretty big flaws though for a handheld machine with expensive tapes... could have done a much better job
    • Chose this over the others because of the QUERTY keyboard, great tape selection and fun preloaded images
    • I love brother labelers, the only observation is that it wastes too much tape.
    • Excellent Design ,It should be perfect design if provided the enough label tape for our first using
    • so you waste tape
    • The only cons is that it could save a bit the tape, because every label wastes a small part, even with narrow margin.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CJ27AVO?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_14
    • Clear carton scotch tape lasts forever and is a fraction of the price whether its generic or name brand.
    • it wastes too much tape when printing and the screen is too light.
    • For a label maker it has plenty of options, but I agree with almost every other review in that it wastes too much tape
    • I especially love that you can keep the margins extremely narrow and not waste the label tape
    • But again, because of the no-size-demo thing it's hard to know what to set the length to, based on your font, without printing a test label which also wastes tape.
    • For me its more cost effective to print the label off my PC and tape it to whatever needs labeling with clear movers scotch tape.
    • I keep changing the margins to narrow because I don't need so much leading tape.
    • The only downside is that the tape for labelers is more expensive than the machine!
    • The salesperson had tried to sell me the more expensive tape designed for that, but the standard tape worked perfectly
    • If you twist my arm for a negative it would be that there seems to be excessive blank tape before and after the text so the unit can be a bit wasteful in that way.
    • So far I have wasted more label tape than I have printed
    • The tapes couldn't be easier to change -- just open the bottom, remove one cartridge and replace it with another
    • Because the printing starts at about a half inch in, you waste that tape each and every time you print something.3
    • This labeler wastes about 2" of perfectly good blank tape every time you hit Print
    • From the beginning the tape jammed, and it will eat up batteries before you can Jacky Robinson hit a home run over the Atlanta Braves Centerfield fence
    • And the tape is *not* cheap
    • I hate to waste the tape.
    • Margins are adjustable, which is nice if you do not want to waste printing tape.
    • As noted by many others, gratuitously uses extra tape, and will drain 6 AAA batteries in 6-7 weeks WHILE TURNED OFF
    • The cynic in me believes it is designed that way to force you to buy more tape, more often, and the tape isn't cheap.
    • Now if only the tapes were cheaper
    • Before buying, I read all the reviews that mentioned tape waste and excessive draining of batteries.
    • It is ridiculous!Brother is clearly about selling the overpriced tapes
    • After buying another $10 cartridge, the tape is again broken.
    • The laminate tape sample that came with it lasted 3/4 of the way thru the job (I did waste some tape during the testing without reading portion).
    • I purchased this model because I was brand loyal to Brother and had bought many great products from them over the years (including another labeler that didn't waste tape)
    • There are selectable fonts in 3 sizes (small, med and large), adjustable margins and tape length (the minimum is
    • The tape is a hassle.
    • Also, although the tapes I have for the old model have the same model number as the tapes that fit this machine, the older tapes won't fit in the new model
    • I don't waste any label tape that way.
    • Someone has already pointed out the programming that makes sure that you waste an inch of costly tape each time you print, but this device also eats batteries at an alarming rate
    • wastes too much tape
    • A waste, and not very cost effective as the tapes are not
    • Good tape and has a strong hold with its adhesion / has a superbly great user friendly function for all aspects of font / size and symbols
    • Also, as others have pointed out, it sure loves to waste as much tape as possible.
    • Very useful for the labeling of varieties of flowers grown using the waterproof tape.
    • This would be a good product if you didn't waste so much tape at the front of the tape
    • Overly complex, forces you to waste tape.
    • Second, when printing labels, there seems to be a lot of extra room in the margins, which is wasteful considering how expensive the tapes can be
    • The tape waste issue is not so much of 'waste in economical sense', but it translates to inconvenience in usage
    • After all we grew up with the old individual punch plastic tape method of labeling
    • : It does waste some label tape.
    • Uses too much tape on the ends;- Drains batteries when off (don't leave them in the unit)
    • You want to make a string of labels so as not to waste the expensive tape, and after typing the first label it says "OK to feed?", but there is no "NO" button!
    • Great lost tape a large amount of it.
    • It comes with a sample tape that has lasted pretty well, and tape is available in various sizes and colors
    • I feel like I'm wasting the tape.
    • The margin settings don't work and I still get labels far too wide even under "auto margin" settings and have to trim by hand (duh, they'll sell more tape this way)
    • This is a piece of cr*pTotally frustrating and expensive tape i have had other brothers labelers that have been greatBattery life is zero.
    • You want to make a string of labels so as not to waste the expensive tape, and after typing the first label it says "OK to feed?", but there is no "NO" button!
    • - this actually borders on ridiculous - even when setting to narrower margins - having extra margins might protect the ink in terms of wrangling the tape to remove the backing, but still, it's too much
    • The cons I see are in a rather dim screen that is sensitive to viewing angle and also, like most label makers, it is designed to waste a lot of expensive tape out of the box
    • If you want to make sure to not waste your labeling tape, you can print multiples (I labeled all of my baby's bottles and spoons for daycare and stream printed 10 of her name each time).
    • I was told the tape would be expensive to refill.
    • The tape is quite secure and will last many years without being too difficult to remove when needed
    • I would avoid this one like the plague and look at maybe Epson or another brand that does not waste tape as a dishonest way of ripping people off.
    • Good product, they all seem to waste some tape at each end of printing.
    • Works as we expected and does the job.
    • The preview mode doesn't give them justice, once printed they look as sharp as they do on the template reference sheet
    • If you follow this suggestion, you will need both an adapter AND batteries, however, I would imagine the batteries will last longer than they would if you used battery power to generate the labels as well as to maintain memory settings
    • Another waste, as they then drain after another week
    • A lot of label tape is wasted as it seems you must have a 2 inch margin on either side of the words.
    • Good p touch
