I read all of the reviews about a burned plastic smell, but we didn't experience that at all.

After the initial setup, done as per manual, I started smelling a very bad burning smell

Even after performing the included instructions for first use of the coffee maker, the coffee maker did have a very strong plastic smell and taste to the coffee

Let me elaborate on what I mean by " I don't like it" , we love the concept quick hot coffee, but this unit smells funny all the time, like burning plastic and I have read others have reported this as well

And when I emailed BUNN, they said this horrible smell was not only normal, but I could expect to experience it for six weeks... the best part of waking up!!!!

love the new addition on lid that makes it pour into your cup instead of the counter top ..from the pic I thought the carafe was thermal black but is glass like my former models..no bad smell as some noted on the other reviews very satisfied

I haven't had any bad smell like others have had, but my brewer doesn't dispense the same amount of coffee as the water I put in.

My second complaint is the burning plastic smell that comes from the unit.

The problem is that with the water in the tank being kept at a high temperature at all times, if you only rinse the pot quickly instead of washing it with soap and water EVERY time you use it, then the minuscule amount of coffee residue in the pot gets in the tank and causes the burnt plastic smell(actually burnt coffee).

I am noticing the "hot" smell coming from it that others mentioned, and it is rather strong

I'm assuming every time the coffee maker heated up, the glue got warm and gave off that horrible smell

It took 3 months for the horrible toxic glue smell to go away.
