And since this is a tonally "transparent" pedal, you can actually use the Pure Sky to "correct" an amp that is a bit too bright, or perhaps needs a little kick in the low end.

zoom, digitech etc.).In fact, it sounds more like a good amp sim than a pedal
-
As for sound, I find this pedal works best (for me) when trying to add a little bit of punch and snarl to a clean amp
-
Plug this pedal alone into a relatively clean tube amp, and you get a pretty amazing range of tonal options - everything from pure clean boost, to bassy Bluesbreaker crunch, to "gainier" sounds you would associate with a more traditional OD or Distortion pedal
-
I have zero trouble dialing in the desired tone for a given song.-Gives a very "pure" clean overdriven tube amp effect, no tone loss.
-
but cheap, and is incredibly versatile as a booster, now as a distortion for solid state amps this thing is not recommended as it lacks a little bit of personality, what the pedal does is enhance the personality your tube amp already has and help bring the power tube overdrive we all crave, worth 4 times as much as the asking price if you ask me

These are for tube amps, don't buy if you have a solid state amp!
-
and I've got a great older hw fender amp that has a fantastic clean tone that I love
-
It's transparent, sweet, sparkly, has a flat EQ, and feels amp-like
-
With the gain dimed on the pedal, and on my solid state practice amp, I can get some extra compression/sustain that sounds good to me
-
Combined with a dirty amp or another overdrive, you easily achieve screaming shred gain
-
But as a stand alone OD to a clean solid state amp, the Orange Burst would be a better choice based on the perceived extra gain due to compression.
-
If you are planning to use this to boost a tube amp, just go for it, sounds

As a boost to an already breaking up tube amp, both are good choices.
-
With all the knobs maxed out, and a little pre/post augmentation(overdrive pedal for pre-boost,and eq pedal to post-shape the tone,i was able to achieve a decent modern metal sound...and through a little Peavey solid state combo amp
-
Works as a great pre-amp
