Tone is rich and organic, with just the right degree of transparency and sounding musical and across its wide gain spectrum capable of being integrated with other drive pedals

Your tone retains the acoustic "snap" of a very clean tone and the eq response of your amp and guitar still dominate the sound

My bass now has a great tone.

Its great for its price for those people who are just getting into analog pedal setup, but I wont recommend it because it sounds muddy if you will decrease the treble if you want a warm tone, and its harsh at high gain

If I could only use one overdrive pedal and was on a budget this would probably be my first choice as you can easily attain a slightly dirty yet bright tone for Texas blues & the like all the way to a thicker crunchy overdrive for ACDC

but it does darken the tone I found, especially if you are running any o.d. or distortion you will definitely notice it.

It basically keeps my clean tone the same but adds a bit of od sustain and dirt (think JM or SRV).Fan-frickin-tastic!

Savage pedal, serious tone from it

Gain and volume at 1 o'clock and bass and treble at ten o'clock will get your amp's medium-gain drive tone to Van Halenesque brown sound

I combine it with a Joyo ultimate drive and get some really cool tones

I tried it with several guitar/amp combinations, and was able to get plenty of great tones.

It's really mostly good for clean tone use and ambient long trailing

If you can't get a good tone sculpted with this thing, you should start looking at the rest of your gear for a problem

I run the gain control about 50% and that give me a robust cleanish tone when played lightly but gives up more Crunch when I dig in

opinions*-With the gain set at 50% dial or less, this thing can really push my amp into that "buttery” pure blues tone type territory - without having to crank the amp sky high.-No need to dime the amp/tape down everything on shelves and walls around the house.

played thru a tele with Seymour Duncan Hot for Tele's! great tone and unbelievable price!!!!!

Paired with my tele and tweed you can really dial in some nice Keef tones for $30 bucks.

Transparent overdrive" is one of those musical "terms of art", but it basically means that the pedal is some combination of volume, gain, and dynamic expression while also retaining the essential elements of your clean tone.

Sadly, this is going back to Amazon because it colors the tone too much and not versatile enough for me.

So, while you are unlikely to step on a Pure Sky Overdrive to go from clean tone to full-out rock overdrive, there are many other things a good transparent can do for you - an "always on" clean boost, adding just a bit of grit to your tone, or stacking with another overdrive to boost or emphasize parts of its tone

With the gain dimed, I can clean up the sound completely just by turning down the volume on my guitar, and then switch to a lead tone by rolling it back up to full again

I like the fact that there is a usable E Q to level out your tone
