The game machine is there, it just needs a better set of scenarios and perhaps a more interesting field of battle

The levels are fairly well set and allow only minimal decision making to create your own play style, you often have to beat the level in the way the game has been programed.

To my surprise, even the "Optimal" setting looks good and plays well!
