Having just installed the XL individual ink tank I cannot attest to how long it lasts

Compared to the regular Canon ink tanks, the XL tanks are great because they result in fewer ink runouts.

I can still use the generic products for the smaller color cartridges, but for the critical (the printer will not function w/o this cartridge) large black ink tank, this is the one to buy.

This is the XL version that has a larger ink tank than the normal ink that one can buy, but if you print often, this is the version to get.
