Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

    • The photos it did take have nice bokeh and the bees were clear but it's taking too long to get there for $1000
    • This lens not only produces very sharp images for true macro photography, but also produces that much desired, smooth, dreamy bokeh
    • Amazing sharpness, detail, and beautiful bokeh.
    • The bokeh is velvety smooth and the sharpness, color and contrast are just outstanding!
    • It is incredibly sharp, has beautiful and smooth bokeh at wide apertures, and has been very reliable
    • Solid build, tack sharp, nice bokeh, opens up a whole new (smaller? world)
    • Bokeh and sharpness are overall excellent at wide open.0.5 stars taken away for not fast enough autofocus even with proper range selector set
    • The bokeh is smooth, brilliant color, and tack sharp - just what I was hoping for!
    • This lens is extremely sharp, produces very nice bokeh, contrast and color
    • Some of my best portrait shots have come from this lens - it is razor sharp and has exceptional bokeh.
    • Similarly, while I can generally get very good bokeh out of the two lenses above
    • However it has it limitations read below for its caveats.*Color of this lens is impeccable.*Bokeh background blur, this lens has a great aperture iris for circularly bokeh not just a f/2.8 but at other apertures as wellThe Chromatic Aberration CA, softness, vignetting, and distortion which are common flaws in any lens are minimal on this lens
    • At the same aperture (let say 3.2); the new 100mm 2.8L IS produced nicer bokeh and better contrast, color.- At low speed (below 1/60) - the new 100mm 2.8L IS obviously defeat the non-IS
    • Beautiful images, beautiful bokeh, tack sharp, quick focus, fairly light with a nice image stabilization feature.
    • Ok, I love bokeh, This thing is great.
    • Bokeh is excellent.
    • but I also liked that it had good bokeh (blurring of the background compared to subject).
    • A picture at 1/20s with IS enable is sharper than 1/100s of the old lense (without IS).In my opinion, this lense is also usable for many other purposes (other than macro) for example: portraiture - this will be in between the 85mm and 135mm lenses, with the IS feature and nice bokeh & sharpness, this lense is also very nice for portraits, especially for kid portraits (if you already had three 85mm 1.2L-II, 100mm 2.8L, and 135mm 2L lenses
    • Very sharp at focal points and nice bokeh at low f stops
    • - I don't know why you would settle for the non-IS.--- Edit ---I found that for portrait, the bokeh on this thing is incredibly smooth
    • Bokeh is amazing!
    • The bokeh is marvelous - soft with no sharp angles or weird artifacts
    • The bokeh, as others have mentioned, is very smooth in transition (see my sample pictures)
    • Great focus and beautiful bokeh
    • And the bokeh was very smooth
    • The 100mm focal length is very flattering and creates some really nice bokeh in the background
    • And if i shoot anywhere from 2.8 to 4 the bokeh is astonishing
    • The bokeh is excellent
    • Out of focus highlights - the bokeh - is smooth, smoother than the older version.
    • This lens creates the best bokeh I have seen form a lens, including the lenses I own that stop down to f1.4.If you are looking for possibly one of the best macro lenses on the market
    • Creates amazing bokeh.
    • Tack sharp, great color, smooth bokeh - instant silent
    • I'm extremely happy with this lens, fast focus, great bokeh and color, extremely sharp, and of course the IS.
    • My images are tack sharp with beautiful bokeh.
    • This one is so much sharper and produces such beautiful backgrounds (that amazing bokeh others have written about) that it's worth the difference in cost
    • It gives an amazing bokeh, super saturation, and, like I keep saying, great sharpness (be sure to set your in-camera sharpness down a notch, because you are going to see small hairs on noses and other yummy bits.
    • f/2.8 provides reasonable light for most subjects with a tripod and appropriately long exposures as well as delightful bokeh (depth of field blurring).
    • Bokeh is very good with this lens.
    • Absolutely amazing detail shots with really pretty bokeh.
    • Bokeh is beautiful and very even
    • [what you actually see to what's on the photo]. Bokeh is on point - you can get super creamy bokeh if you want
    • It has a solid build, smooth operation of the focus mechanism, beautiful bokeh, and perfect balance on my
    • Has excellent background blur and bokeh
    • I did put a B+W 67mm Clear UV Haze with Multi-Resistant Coating (010M) filter on it immediately - however no other mods are needed
