This is sharper across the frame and the IS is a great addition

The fluorine coating on the front element will be a welcome addition to those that prefer not to use filters

With the release of the extremely well received 70-200 2.8II, 70-200 F4 IS, 24-70 2.8II, and 24-70 F4 IS, Canon really is the king of the zoom lens....and the 16-35 F4 IS a worthy addition to Canon's portfolio of class-leading zoom lenses.

even if I wanted to -- I am not much of a technical wizard) but I will just reiterate that this lens would make an outstanding wide angle addition to your lens arsenal.

It's definitely a worthy upgrade from the 17-40 F4, and the 16-35 2.8II, and a worthy addition to Canon's portfolio of industry leading zooms.
