• Reviews around barrel distortion (2.37 of 5)

Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Lens

    • And the distortion is well controlled as well with some barrel distortion at 16mm and some pin cushion at 35mm, but very reasonable
    • Like most zoom lenses, there is some distortion at the extreme ends of the range - slight barrel distortion at 16mm and pincushion at 35mm, while there is almost none around 24mm
    • There is minimal barrel distortion, even wide open, which cut my editing time down to virtually nothing
    • The good news is that the barrel distortion at 16mm is less than Nikon's 16-35, but it's still there, and at the 35mm end, the Canon 16-35 IS has noticeably more pincushion than the Nikon 16-35 VR
    • At 16mm this lens has a lot of barrel distortion, significantly more than a cheap
    • The good news is that the distortion is limited to the typical barrel distortion you'd expect from an ultra wide angle focal length, and is very easy to correct in post, even without a photoshop lens profile (which hasn't been released as of the time of this review).
    • M has a greentint to it, so if you need clear and clean image tone then consider the B+W Clear 007M Filter
    • f/4 L lens I purchased from Amazon and it works very well, but I like the idea of an image stabilized wide angle since I would like to more video work and this lens (16-35 is) looked very promising.
    • For the price it's probably the best L-series quality lens you can buy.
    • There are much better options such as the 10-22, or the great ef-s 17-50mm
    • Clear, crisp and sharp as s tack
