It is a very nice walk around lense

A great walk-around lens if I didn't have the direct comparison to the 24-105L, but only worthwhile if the price difference (or few ounces weight-difference) is make-or-break.

Images weren't impressionably sharp below f8.The lens is a tank that adds significant weight to the SLR, which detracts a bit from it's appeal as a walk-around lens.

So i looking for an excelent walk around lens, look no futher - but be prepared to spend thousands for your next

It is a great walk-around lens, probably more suitable for full-frame verses the cropped body variety as the latter push this thing into the 38-168mm range.

It's the best walk around day light lens on 5D for me.

But if I'm walking around town or on vacation or hiking then the 24-105 is much better due to its slightly smaller weight and its greater range

I shoot a lot of images where I want the out of focus areas (bokeh) to be glassy smooth and creamy (for weddings, macros, portraits and such) and you cannot get that with this lens as good as you can with the 24-70 f2.8

I do own the 135 f/2L, as well as the 85mm f/1.8 and the 50mm f/1.4 - but the versatility of the zoom range here makes this one my usual go-to lens.

The blur it produces may not be as sweet as that produced by some of the other lenses, but we're talking about f/4 as wide open here.

If you want to buy canon lens, definitely go to L series lens which guarantee great image quality, especially this 24-105

(24-70L - look, I'm talking about taking the photo gear along with all that stuff small children need, or the mothers think they need ;) or were them not very versatile (the fifties) or the quality felt bellow the expectation (28-105 and the cheap kit lens).After shooting with this not so well regarded 24-105 L I must say it was exactly what I needed: delivers high IQ pictures with strong contrast and yes, it can blur the background enough for most cases - at least for portraits shot at 3 to 4 meters alway

I was pleased with this older lens and held off buying the more expensive 'L' cause I didn't think it could be that much of an improvement.

Why, I compared this to my only other Canon's Zoom lens --70-200mm F4 L, which is also the cheapest 'L' lens from Canon

L would be perfect for the 7D.

suite for everything, very sharp, very fast, great L series lenses. f4 at 105 looks stuning, the macro also is very decent.

I've seen many reviews heaping praise on the Canon 24-105 f/4 L, and I'll just add to it.

After I started using it I noticed a HUGE difference in the quality of photos after switching to this lense, and now I refuse to buy anything but these beautiful L series lenses

My EF-S 15-85mm lens delivers a similar FOV for APS-C, has better IQ, and it doesn't even carry the renowned "L" designation

This lens has been great and if you are in the market for a high quality lens in this Focal length, spend a little more and get the L series like this if you can

The zoom range, from medium wide-angle to medium telephoto, certainly makes this one of Canon's most versatile "L" series lenses

I was a little bit surprised to find the first lens I really wanted to get back was not of the more expensive L lenses, but this one

I go with fast non-L primes, 28F2.8, 50F1.4 and 85F1.8
