The zoom is pretty decent
-
It creates a great mid range zoom and if you can only take one lens withyou while traveling this would be the one.
-
I am a professional photographer and I love the 24-105 zoom -- it allows me to get environmental portraits -- i.e., a couple in front of a church or a small child on a beach -- and then I can zoom in for a more traditional portrait (the bokeh is quite nice at f4 105).
-
It's also ideal for landscapes on the wide end - but with the flexibility to use zoom to tweak your composition
-
Very sharp with high IQ, the only drawback is its annoying zoom creep.
-
With a standard twist zoom focus, this lens permits for auto or manual focusing depending on how the switch is set
-
the end, this lens was unable to lock auto focus when zoomed between 50mm and 105mm.
-
It has a reasonable zoom and has a constant f/4 aperture
-
f/2.8 to get a fast zoom.
-
Incidentally, my copy evidences no zoom creep
-
The zoom works well for the across the room zooms when you're trying to just get the subject's face in the camera, making this a great choice as a walk-around lens for most people photography
-
i would love a fast zoom lens with IS.
-
If you are looking for a fast zoom lens for sports or any fast-paced activities then you would want to keep looking.
-
I would say get the lens if you need a good zoom for a family trip or such but not someone's wedding
-
Very sharp - convenient controls - useful zoom range.
-
This thing is reasonable fast, has convenient zoom coverage and is sharp.
-
Granted, there are 'super-zooms' with much bigger zoom range, but they are only 'super' until you take a look at the results, namely the pictures
-
Silky smooth zooming and focusing, very sharp and detailed images with excellent color and saturation - the experience if using the 24-105 is entirely positive
-
sure i would love a 2.8 IS lens but only if it had a decent zoom range and also if it was as small as this L lens.
-
Its got a decent zoom range, good fixed aperature
-
great zoom range
-
It gives me just enough wide angle to get good landscapes and indoor shots and the zoom is excellent for portraits and other distance shots

The zooming is smooth and the photos are sharp
-
There are also some great ultra-wide zooms in this price range
-
It works great for portraiture and offers a nice zoom range
-
Also, if you are upgrading from cheap zooms, you will be very surprised at how snug and smooth the zoom mechanism is
-
It's a sizeable lens, and makes my 6D fairly heavy, but the combination of being fast enough (f/4) when wide open, the very solid image stabilization, and the 6D's clean high-ISO performance make this a great party and indoor all-around lens, and the very useful zoom range is just icing on the cake
-
I like a longer zoom.
-
The zoom is reasonable for typical shots (street photography, friends in groups, scenery) and the weight not too much to haul around for hours on end
-
Although not a macro lens, it focuses close enough for head shots and small details (.45 m/1.5 ft).The twist zoom action is smooth, damped and does not creep
-
I'd say the strong points of this lens is image stabilization, and the extra 30-35mm range you get over the more expensive standard zooms (Canon/Tamron 24-70, etc).
-
after all I get less wide angle but gain the zoom which is something I really needed more
-
I can get great wide angle shots and can do a decent zoom.
-
The zoom is too smooth, it will creep when shooting downward, so I always have a piece of tape on the camera body.
-
Image quality is excellent for a zoom from about 30mm up to 90mm, good from 90mm to 105mm, and tolerable from 24 to 30mm (getting better in the 28 to 30mm range).
-
Typically, wide angle-to-telephoto zooms are awful at the wide end, so-so at the long
