Canon EF 24-70mm f/4.0L IS USM Standard Zoom Lens

    • The problem was the images were just not sharp.
    • Shooting in normal light brings out sharp images, however, I've had issues with back focusing and just "off-focus".
    • 5 business days after I mailed the lens to Irvine, CA, I received the lens back with a loose focus ring and the accompanying letter said "Your product has been examined and it was found that the internal component was broken and therefore the image was blurred
    • In 5 business days I had the lens delivered back to my front door with a letter, stating that some of the internal parts were misaligned, and that caused blurred images
    • but if you're looking for the best image quality in a mid-zoom lens no doubt you should get the 24-70mm 2.8L, why
    • The images were amazing, sharp, and clear
    • It produces razor-sharp images with startling color and saturation, and at f/2.8 across the zoom range is capable of shooting in all but the dimmest of lighting conditions.
    • what ever you focus on will be crisp and have contrast to everything else creating an unreal and beautiful image
    • It uses the same filter size as my razor sharp 16-35L f/4 (77mm filter size), it has an efficient image stabilizer, it has a usable macro function (handy sometimes)
    • It's heavy as hell, but the images are wonderful
    • I get nothing less than Tactically Tac-Sharp images
    • Exceptional images
    • When shooting my time exposure waterfalls at f/16, as long as my tripod is secure, I get sharp images corner to corner.
    • If you are on a budget and demand the best image quality, this is still your best bet, but if you can pay the extra money, go with the new
    • clear image very good all around
    • The 24-70mm produces images that are almost as good as the prime but adds in the ability to zoom with out having to use my feet :-).
    • I love photography but have always been frustrated with my images always turning out slightly less than tack sharp, even when using a tripod and/or shooting at higher shutter speeds.
    • This is a superb lens delivering great images, and may be it's just my
    • In practice, I sometimes got lucky and was rewarded with a very sharp image, but most of the time the images were soft to very soft.
    • It's true that depending on the particular Canon 24-105L you compare this newer lens against you mightget a bit sharper images past the wide end, but with the Canon 6D, 5DIII and
    • I used this lens on the 7D (cropped sensor) and have never seen better images from my camera from any other lens
    • I know many complain about the weight, but the images are so amazing, I completely forget about the weight - and after all, we decided to purchase SLR's over a cellphone camera, so weight shouldn't be an issue.
    • Once dialed in, images were satisfyingly sharp, contrasty and vivid from edge to edge
    • The images that come out of the camera are pretty much razor sharp little to no sharpening needed.
    • Because it gives you twice image quality than any other mid-zoom, it has a wide aperture of 2.8 (twice than f4), it's very sharp, it generates very well contrast images and has the lowest distortion in 24mm than other lens.
    • The f2.8 meant that I could increase the shutter speed to tone down how bright the images were (the first shots were too bright) to get them to look like a night time shot
    • Thus be aware of this problem and have lens repaired before you loose many images.
    • my 50mm f/1.8.I couldn't believe that my 50mm was giving me sharper images than this $1,300 piece of glass
    • I'm very satisfied with it!Sharp image and fast focus...
    • Pros:***Image quality - Only zoom lens that rivals the image quality of the 50mm 1.8F (no need to say more if you know about the nifty 50)
    • This is when I read other reviewers on Amazon, saying that this particular lens occasionaly comes with a factory defect, which causes blurred images
    • It will render some great images, but it all depends on what aperture you work at and what you shoot
    • It took me a little while to obtain sharp images because I hand held the camera in low light situations
    • Absolutely fantastic image & build quality
    • I get far sharper images with this lens than with the faster Tamron on my Canon 5D4.
    • I may need to take it in and see why it back focuses and why the image is soft.
    • have found a better image quality at 24mm with this lens than the Canon 24-105L which is the sweet spot for Landscape photographers
    • Great image 98% of the time.
    • If image quality or low-light capability are a concern for you, then you owe it to yourself to skip the zooms and try these three out.
    • The images didn't seem as sharp as promised, and I didn't want to be stopping this lens down further, as I purchased it for the constant f/2.8 aperture
    • It might not make images quite as striking as Canon's 135/2 lens, but they are very good indeed
    • Mine was one of the many I have heard about with "soft images" - that, coupled with the fact I would need to bring so much equipment with me on the field for good shots, made me exchange it for the 28-135 with IS, which is much more portable, takes fantastic shots, better zoom range, and 1/3 the price.
    • On another note, aspiring wedding photographers would be well advised to make an initial investment in a 5D Mark II or something in the 1D lines if you really want the freedom to work at high ISO and not worry about image degrading noise.
    • The images are sharp, the focusing is crisp and the ability to go to f/2.8 brings incredible options for low-light shooting
    • If you are not prepared to do whatever it takes to get the best image possible, perhaps you should rent this lens first and see what you think of it's weight.
    • The dinged-up rentals as well as my shiny new one all help me make excellent images
    • Now I have a 5D and the combination of full frame and the 24-70 gives me the best and sharpest images I have ever seen from my camera
    • In contrast, the auto focus on the 24-105mm f/4L IS is extremely repeatable (I needed a +4 microadjustment on my 7D), resulting in sharp image after sharp image.
    • Excellently sharp and detailed images with full saturation that require practically no retouching on your computer
    • when you walk the lens stays locked at 24mm and doesn't slide out like the 24-105 or the f2.8 option does.*image stabilization is fantastic to have, I get sharp images consistently at a shutter speed of 1/5*small and light weight, the smallest of the 24-70 and 24-104 series- best and most versital option option for traveling in my opinion based on size, quality (sharpness, contrast, and color), and options
    • Sharp images wide-open, sharper stopped down
    • There are plenty of good reviews so this one will be a (repeat) short summary:Pros:- Sharp images accross
    • But I've also found this lens makes beautiful images stopped down a good deal for short night time exposures on a tripod and a remote release
    • It's getting to the point that I end up with several times as many awesome images as I need from every shoot
    • I do a lot of traveling from backcountry camping to big city ventures, and this lens fits the bill 100%.Pros-*better wide image quality over 24-105*best macro capabilities of all the
    • otherwise, f/2.8 is useless cause your tendency is to increase the iso rating which will increase the noise level and thus degrade picture quality (as i was only using t1i-- unless you have the 5d2 or higher which offers good image IQ even with high ISO sesttings).
    • The images from this lens are ultra sharp at all focal lenghts.
    • It takes razor-sharp images, works well in low-light situations and focus fast
    • It takes razor-sharp images, works well in low-light situations and focus fast
    • If it provides great images, then that's my criteria.
    • Specifically, the focus works extremely fast and the images are sharp (which I could not say about the kit lens)
    • I'm impressed!Image stabilization: It would be nice, but I'm not missing it.
    • I bought this lens when I was 50/50 since the price was a bit steep for me, that Aside, I have no regrets, it has made my experience unbelievable, my customers are always shocked at how my images are crisp and sharp, both outdoor and indoor and also in low light
    • and I have to say the images are truly outstanding
    • Most times I can get by without it but in really low light if you can't get the shutter above 1/15th of second you will have slightly smudged images.
    • and I've created some incredible images
    • The images are super sharp, contrasty, and the colors are super accurate
    • I was so not impressed by that lens - so much hype about it and a steep price tag, but images are blurry due to the lack of image stabilization and quality is not 4 times better compare to 4 times less expensive consumer-grade lens
    • The images are amazingly sharp and crisp, simply put, this is my go-to lens.
    • It works perfect with out door images, and works magic in doors thanks to it's 2.8 constant aperture.
    • The images you'll get with this lens also lack the 'iconic look' (as in smooth creamy bokeh) you'll get with 50L, 85L, 24-70 f/2.8 MkI etc
    • A prompt reply from the representative said, and I quote "I'm sorry to hear that your lens is not producing clear images for you
    • you are shooting in low light and go with f/2.8 you are trading a softer image for less noise.
    • If you can afford the entry fee, you'll have no hint of buyer's remorse once you see the spectacular images this lens produces.
    • It produces beautiful, SHARP images!
    • Deceptive image (it shows the newer
    • It is versatile, sharp, and produces excellent images at any range from 24mm to 70mm, and at any aperture.
    • Using a 5D Mark II, I could hand hold my night time shots and have enough speed to freeze the image while I turned night into day.
    • As previously stated by more qualified people then myself, this lens produces some crisp images.
    • I prefer the 2.8 and to me, it seems to you have to work harder to get good, sharp images from the 24-105.
    • Close images (under 10 feet) were sharp, while images between 10 feet and infinity were almost out of focus
    • A heavier weight is a fair trade off, I think, to providing my clients better images
    • This lens is still my workhorse, I still go "wow" when I open images up in Photoshop and work on them (for the image quality, not the composition, lol!)
    • SO, 24-70mm and the new 70-200mm IS II, and you will have an arsenal of image quality that will NOT disappoint!
    • Hi Canon Lover,It is perfect and professional for users who love to capture excellent image
    • No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get crisp images.
    • Further, compared to other L zooms, the images are just plain soft.
    • what they said was wrong with it."We have examined the lens according to your request, and it was found that the adjustment of the pcb assembly was incorrect the image was blurred.
    • The reason why I went with this one instead of the sigma was because of the built quality and it had better overall image quality
    • That others had suffered the same problems as I, with older bodies
    • but that's fine as I either shoot wide open or stopped down to
    • And that is all the positives I am going to report on
    • It is built like a tank, and I have taken it to the base of Niagara Falls (as wet as that is) with no issue whatsoever
    • The other functions of lens work as they should and everything is tight, down to the lens hood
    • or it's jut not as sharp as it sould be, specially for the price!
    • This immediately made me wonder as to why the broken parts were not discovered the first time Canon serviced, and why did the focus ring become loose
    • When I received my 24-70 f/2.8 lens, I was ecstatic to find that the results from my new L Glass zoom were every bit as impressive as from my prime lens.
    • F2.8 is not as sharp as the Canon 70-200 F2.8L but it is still way better than anything from other brands
