Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Medium Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras w/ B+W 58mm XS-Pro HTC Kaesemann Circular Polarizer

    • Awesome portrait lens
    • After having this lens a couple months I can easily say it's my favorite portrait lens
    • Some head and shoulder shots are doable, dont get me wrong, but if your main intent is portraits you will be disappointed (as an outdoor lens its fine since you always have enough room but for group shots you will have to stand far away)
    • But even with my body this lense takes amazing portrait with that amzing blurry background and really SHARP in details
    • Beautiful portraits.
    • If you're looking for a good prime portrait lens, especially on a budget, I think you will be quite pleased with the EF 85mm f1.8.
    • great portrait and general purpose lens with fast, accurate and sharp autofocus
    • It's a useful focal length on both full frame and crop, but if you like head and shoulder portraits and shallow depth of field, I can't recommend this lens enough.
    • It also does excellent head shots and portraits.
    • Simply the easiest portrait lens to use and it has superb quality.
    • It produces gorgeous portraits.
    • It seems to be a great portrait lens, my portraits have improved already! Looking forward to more great images!

    • This is hands down my favorite portrait lens, sure it's not the
    • Anyone looking for a great portrait lens should get hold of one of these
    • This is an awesome portrait lens on a 1.6x crop factor camera, and pretty cheap too
    • This has to be my favorite portrait lens
    • It's still a great portrait lens for the price, but non-optimal for low-light usage.
    • This is a great and fast portrait lens.
    • In bright light / high shutter speeds and carefully handled, this lens turns out some amazingly sharp portrait-style shots which led to my original raving
    • This translates into perfect portrait depth-of-field and produces awesome boke in the f/1.8 - f/2.0 range, and even a decent amount of boke up to f/4.5.
    • Also, Its much lighter and less imposing than my 70-200L so when I just want amazing portraits, don't need the higher 200mm and don't want the weight, and want a real shallow depth of feel and out of focus backgrounds, I go for the 85mm.3
    • Coming from a 24-105 L on a canon EOS 400 body, I was looking for a good portrait lens to shoot for my sister's wedding
    • a Canon 50mm f/1.8 that took great portraits (and still does)
    • My images are super sharp and make beautiful portrait shots
    • I'm a beginning photographer and this helped me gain so much experience with creating a nice portrait since I do not own a 50 mm.
    • This is a great portrait lens
    • This lens is great for portrait work as well as studio stills, with a max aperture
    • available light portraits like a pro studio would generate!
    • Great portrait lense
    • The 135 f/2 is a great portrait lens, one of the best, but the 85 f/1.8 is just as good optically (or very close) and costs considerably less
    • Fantastic portraits in the low f/numbers, and a nice crisp image.
    • It's a great portrait lens and is very fast.
    • This lens definitely fit my needs, with the aperture open to 1.8 and a tripod, it was able to catch enough light out of most situations and the usm auto focus is incredible! This is a great portrait lens, but keep in mind that on a dslr you need to stand a good distance away from your subject for them to fit in the frame
    • At f/1.8 it takes wonderful photos indoors without the need for a flash and the wide aperture and slight telephoto allow for excellent portraits
    • Best portrait lens you can get
    • anyway.85mm can help you make solid portraits and can replace a 50mm in a lot of situations
    • I wanted to get a good portrait lens and opted for this v/s the 85mm L series that is almost 4 times the price.
    • Make sure your body can handle this lense cause I don't think my CanonT6i can handle this lense I always need to be far away from my subject to take a nice portrait with this camera
    • makes it equivalent to 80mm which is nice portrait focal length
    • The portraits I've taken with it are delicious
    • I don't need to get up in someone's face to get a good portrait or anything ridiculous like that
    • The lens is sharp enough to use for Macro work (though I'd still like to get a dedicated long macro, like the 100 2.8), produces dreamy bokeh, and takes the most beautiful portraits
    • This lens will give you very nice subject separation for some outstanding portraits
    • New favorite portrait lens!
    • It is a great portrait lens, and even better for action shots.
    • Not only very good for portrait also very good for take nature & landscape

    • The lens is compact, not at all heavy and is perfect portrait lens.
    • Most of my best portraits come with this lens.
    • I found this lens generally produces my best portrait shots, and is fast under lower light conditions.
    • It is a hugely popular portrait lens - I'd go so far as to say it is a "must own" for a portrait photographer
    • My worries were needless: just a step or two back from the subject plus some getting used to the telephoto perspective were enough to turn this lens into the most effective portrait lens that I have.
    • this is a great portrait lens for the money and competes head to head with the bigger more expensive 85mm 1.2L.
    • Takes wonderful portraits with a creamy bokeh
    • You can take gorgeous portraits of head and shoulders from a reasonable distance but for a full body shot you have to step back considerably
    • This lens allows enough light to come in to allow for beautiful portraits.
    • A very nice portrait lens
    • well I have gotten great portrait shots with it.

    • If you're interested in a good portrait/short telephoto lens, this is the one to get.
    • Gives you fabulous portrait with the buttery 'blur'.
    • and it's a great portrait lens.
    • Out of all my favorite portraits of my kids I have hung up in my home are from the 85
    • I was looking for a great portrait lens as my Canon 50mm 1.8 wasn't really fulfilling all my needs
    • I've been playing around and I took tons of shots of my kids today and the portraits are amazingly clear with GREAT background blur
    • A great lightweight portrait lens for cheap
    • My 60D with 1.6x crop sensor turn this lens into 136mm and its take very good portrait photos and the bokeh is unbeliveable.
    • This is an awesome portrait lens on a 1.6x crop factor camera, and pretty cheap too
    • If you are after tack-sharp portraits with beautiful saturation and color, beautiful bokeh, and are on a limited budget, get this lens
    • Outstanding portrait lens
    • Great portrait lens.
    • I wanted a medium long, fast portrait lens and I have always liked this focal length for close-up head shots.
    • It takes gorgeous portraits
    • It's the perfect portrait lens and this goes hand in hand with my Canon
    • If you're looking for a really good portrait lens and don't wanna drop the $'s on an L series lens - this one will work very nicely.
    • Yet I wanted something more "serious" and more telephoto for intimate portraits, nature close-ups, and goofing around
    • If you like bokeh and portrait, I would highly recommend this lens
    • Very stealthy!Excellent portrait lens, blurs the background very easily
    • I got it and with in the first 10 minutes I was taking some of the best portrait shots I have taken to date
    • OVERALLIf you are looking for a good portrait lens, are a beginner or novice user, you are absolutely going to love this lens
    • Beautiful portraits, sharp, great colors, contrast, background blur.
    • I've taken some incredible portraits for my clients and would recommend this lense to anyone in the business.
    • I wanted a lens that would work well in the gymfor basketball volleyball as well as portraits.
    • However, as a starting photographer, this is a great, decent portrait lens that is a step up from the 50mm.
    • Ever thing you need for great portraits.
    • Takes great portraits
    • A great portrait lens that produces sharp images and a lovely bokeh!
    • It takes beautiful portraits even in low light conditions thanks to an aperture of 1.8, and gives a wonderful blur to the background
    • On a crop sensor it's field of view is still within the preferred portrait focal lengths,
    • The focal length is great for achieving background blur as well as nice looking portraits
    • you can tell it's not nearly as sharp as it is stopped down just a little.
    • Sturdily built but not heavy and bulky, wonderful bokeh, great f/stop control, clarity of image - my only problem with it, really, is that it isn't as sharp as I'd like, but that's all-too-easily fixed in Photoshop.
    • It has some chromatic abberation wide open but still very sharp and stop it down, it is as sharp as $
    • This lens does well wide open or stopped down as well as in low light situations
    • At f3.5 this lens is very sharp, every bit as sharp as my 100-400L lens @ 100
