Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Medium Telephoto Autofocus Lens w/Software Suite & Accessory Bundle

    • This lense is amazing, the autofocus is silent and fast, much quicker than the 50 f/1.8.
    • This glass is absolutely essential in a very short list of affordable lenses, and should give many of the non-affordable ones a run for their money
    • The weight isn't bad, it is a bit heavy, but it feels better than the cheaper lenses
    • Great lenses and a great product.
    • I've learned the reason why professional photographers have such a collection of nice lenses
    • One of the best budget lenses available in the Canon line
    • I've used this lens for well over a year now, and it's become one of my favorite lenses
    • For the price of a consumer zoom, you can have image quality that rivals the finest L series lenses.
    • I've taken some incredible portraits for my clients and would recommend this lense to anyone in the business.
    • The bokeh (the structure of the background blur) is nothing short of great, easily competing with much more expensive lenses
    • very nice lense
    • One of the most valuable lenses in my line up and THE greatest value for the money
    • It really is one of the best lenses out there, and the price makes it a bargain.
    • I love all these lenses.
    • Before you give in to your obsession with L-Series lenses, don't look past these impeccable prime lenses
    • This lens is a prime example of why I love prime lenses.
    • Besides that, it's just as good as any of my expensive L lenses
    • This is a well done lenses which will fit for someone who is not a beginner
    • This lens makes me consider to get prime lenses instead of heavy and bulky zooms nice color and bokeh absolutely recommended
    • I recently read all the reviews available on this and other sites they all proclaimed this lense as a fantastic buy, its better than that
    • So far my favorite lense and definitely a must have for any professional and amateur photographer.
    • A great lense to add to your collection of Canon lenses.
    • Also, unlike other relatively cheap Canon portrait lenses (like the 50/1.4) the AF is accurate and consistent.
    • I impress my friends who have Canon L lenses with this
    • Great portrait lense
    • One of my favorite lenses.
    • These lenses are expensive - prohibitively expensive to many - but if you can save up for one, you won't regret the purchase.
    • I am new into photography and want good lenses to learn with
    • I love this lense
    • Great lense for portraits, but mine has a couple problems distortion of features (legs can look short), autofocus does not work
    • this was one of my favorite lenses and I really wish I could have kept
    • These lenses are expensive - prohibitively expensive to many - but if you can save up for one, you won't regret the purchase.
    • This focuses much better than some of the cheaper lenses I have.
    • the camera was nice, but the lense
    • fast AF+ f/1.8 and medium telephoto length allow you to isolate subjects+ Sharp enough wide open, very sharp stopped down to f/2.8-5.6+ VERY easy to travel with (compared to L counterparts)Cons:- AF not quite as accurate as L lenses (misses more than my 70-200 IS II or 50
    • One of my all time favorite lenses, especially for portrait work
    • So far my best lense
    • I have more expensive lenses that do not get nearly as sharp an image as this
    • But even with my body this lense takes amazing portrait with that amzing blurry background and really SHARP in details
    • One of my favorite lenses and you cannot beat what you get for the price
    • This lense is a steal at the price, equivilent quality costs over $1000 usually, for portraits its the only lense to have at the price, if there is something better on the market in the price
    • I wish there was image stabilization but nonetheless one of the best lenses I've ever used
    • Overall, this lens is one of the most versatile lenses I own.
    • This has become one of my favorite lenses.
    • This is another one of my favorite lenses
    • I tried it at a basketball game and it really out-performed me slower lenses by a mile!
    • I can honestly say that this is definitely one of my favorite lenses
    • My wider fast lenses could cover the whole gym
    • This is saying a LOT as the 35mm L is likely one of Canon's sharpest lenses
    • This is one of the best non-L Canon lenses for portraits in my opinion
    • one of my favorite lenses.
    • It is one of the best lenses I have ever get
    • If I can take photos this nice, imagine what I could do with even nicer lenses...
    • Haven't had the lense long enough to shoot any sporting events and only 2 sets of portraits
    • Consider these the 'mid-range' lenses in terms of price and performance, with some lenses in this category excelling to the point where they could be used without any reservation in professional settings.
    • All in all I love this lense.
    • This lens captures the contrast in such setting better than most other lenses
    • cant express how much I love this lense
    • Some photographers are gobsmacked that I would dare to shoot sports with a lens that doesn't have Canon's elegant red ring (denoting an expensive L lens) when I have "superior" lenses like the 70-200mm f2.8
    • The is one of my favorite lenses in my kit.
    • These lenses are expensive - prohibitively expensive to many - but if you can save up for one, you won't regret the purchase.
    • For the casual photographer these lenses perform great.
    • One of the best lenses I have used, it is one of the best portrait lenses
    • They are both pretty good lenses, and I use them a lot for their specific qualities
    • For someone that has a smaller budget and can't afford the super awesome thousand dollar lenses (like I can't), this one is pretty good in my opinion.
    • Although I have lenses that are much more, ok , a lot more expensive, this is one that I use a lot.
    • Shooting great primes like this one makes you realize how many compromises go into even great zoom lenses
    • On the plus side, the lense is compact enough and doesn't require the use of flash
    • This lense is much less expensive than I would expect.
    • One of my favorite lenses
    • I'm sure there are better lenses available, but I doubt you'll find a better portrait lens at this price point.
    • Amazing lense for the price
    • it is sharp, fantastic blur, and it blows the kit lense out of the water!
    • Fast focus, light weight, cheap, very sharp by f2.5, sharp enough for me at f1.8!One of the best budget lenses for full frame canon
    • One of my favorite lenses i have
    • cause I do love the lense l for all the decend really in focus and sharp images
    • I love prime lenses.
    • As really great lenses go, the price tag is pretty modest
    • and I feel that it matches the quality of Canon's more expensive L-series lenses
    • a lot (I mean a LOT) of great lenses are made there.
    • Great lense for portraits or full body photos shoots, smooth background and bokeh
    • For someone that has a smaller budget and can't afford the super awesome thousand dollar lenses (like I can't), this one is pretty good in my opinion.
    • Nothing to say but Canon makes great lenses
    • Works every bit as well as my L lenses; I'm very happy with this purchase.
    • So that leaves the very expensive L option
    • You can spend a lot more on an "L" lens like the 85 f/1.2 L II - I borrowed one from CPS - but unless you're making a great deal of money from it, it isn't worth it.
    • If you can't afford the "L" and don't want to take a chance on the Sigma 85, then this is your only cholce for 85 mm.
    • Some photographers are gobsmacked that I would dare to shoot sports with a lens that doesn't have Canon's elegant red ring (denoting an expensive L lens) when I have "superior" lenses like the 70-200mm f2.8
    • If you want to make your first step up from a kite lens and don't want to spend L money I would recommend buying this lens, I use it at wedding all the time and it gives you nice crisp shots with great
    • Plus if you go fixed you don't really need to get the expensive L-glass because there is less glass to cause distortion and aberrations.
    • Mainly take pictures of my son's baseball games and bought the EF 70-300 F4-5.6 Telephoto (also great, glad my brother-in-law talked me out of the spendy L-glass I was considering!) in the Fall but wanted a lens to do more portraiture-type stuff.
    • Having the lens in my hand I can say this is a very decent prime glass, well built (not an "L" level), responsive, small and light
    • I'm an amateur photographer, and I'm in no position to drop thousands on L lenses and the like.
    • For the price of a consumer zoom, you can have image quality that rivals the finest L series lenses.
    • Unless I was a millionaire, absolutely HAD to have the extra f-stop, or die-hard "L" freak, I am more than happy with the 85mm 1.8.It is the most extreme focal length lens I have and works great with my working set of lenses which includes the 24-70L, 35mm f2, and wider lenses
    • It feels easily as solid as the L glass that ive used, and is small and compact
    • I know it is little unfair to compare this budget lens with costlier L
    • L suffers from quite a bit
    • "Let me take your snapshot...from across the room".This is the only non-L lens that has really impressed me.
    • fast AF+ f/1.8 and medium telephoto length allow you to isolate subjects+ Sharp enough wide open, very sharp stopped down to f/2.8-5.6+ VERY easy to travel with (compared to L counterparts)Cons:- AF not quite as accurate as L lenses (misses more than my 70-200 IS II or 50
    • To me, its an L: built like an L, color and saturation comparable to an L
    • Not as sturdy as the "L" glass, maybe, but it is sharper at the same settings than my 24-105 f:4 L zoom.
    • Probably one of the best non-L Lens that you can get from Canon for a reasonable price
    • If you are in the market for a great cheap non L series lens, I would pick this over the 50mm 1.8.
    • I have a fair collection of primes to compare it to, some of which are L glass, and I've got some great L zooms as well; yet for portraits, I inevitably turn to this specific lens as it outperforms everything else I own in the successful shooting methodologies I find myself returning to over and over
    • F/2 L, you will lose your love for 85mm F/1.82
    • I was contemplating between this one and the more expensive L lens before I purchased this one
    • This lens fortunately as a "cheap" version from the L seri that really pricey, something that I can't afford buying it but Thanks to Canon have created the non series lens that works beautifuly.
    • Besides that, it's just as good as any of my expensive L lenses
    • Clearly it won't be as good as an L series, so you shouldn't expect perfection, but it still does a fantastic job
    • Works every bit as well as my L lenses; I'm very happy with this purchase.
    • F/2 L, you will lose your love for 85mm F/1.82
    • Excellent Bokeh,as good as my L lens
    • If you are in the market for a great cheap non L series lens, I would pick this over the 50mm 1.8.
    • Everybody and everything from your dog to the Queen of E looks silkier, more soulful and more loveable with this lens
