Yes, it's a great camera and I would still get a replacement but checking for dead pixels on the SENSOR should be a basic quality control on a camera that praises itself to be made in Japan

For me, a good, quick test for dead pixels would be to switch on live view with the lens cap on

Any dead pixels will show up on the black screen, unless dead pixels appear black as well in which case, test on a white sheet of paper
