Very irritating how Canon manipulates their gear so that nothing works unless you are using everything Canon.

I got truly excellent pictures from this camera, and I love Canon, but ultimately I returned it because the lens configuration is quite awkward, especially for something I had hoped to use for point and shoot (if slightly more pro than an entry level version of P&S).

My final gripe does not regard the camera, per se, rather Canon's software support of it, specifically the ability to easily transfer files to computer.

I also changed my menus to the classic Canon style as I am familiar with those from years of owning Canons

Arguably, 18-20mp is a more appropriate upper limit for APS-C and note that both Canon and Nikon have limited their top-of-the-line APS cameras to about 20-21mp.

Overall I feel the M50 is like a downsized and mirrorless 4K video capable version of a Canon T7i Rebel and that’s a compliment because you get a level of still image detail and classic Canon colors just like you’d get with a T7i with half the camera bulk and weight and the 4K video is a major bonus compared to the 1080 limitation of the T7i - and all for about the same or slightly less money than a T7i.

Until then, The M50 may be the best traveling Canon.

I shoot 4k footage with c mount lenses that work great at this crop factor

The viewfinder is bright and clear and there is minimal lag or smearing as the camera is panned, unlike my first digital camera (Fuji S602Z).
