The lens kit (18-55mm) is a perfect starting lens.
-
I also purchased a 55-250 IS zoom lens, a UV filter to protect the lens, and a class 10 Sandisk Extreme SD card
-
Another problem is the lens
-
The lens it comes with is great for most all indoor shots; however, the zoom lens (which is sold separately) is really needed for outdoor shots
-
Comes with a EF-S 18-55mm kit lens which is a great little lens (I'm selling my T3, but keeping the lens!).Cons of the T3/1100D:Battery compartment/memory card combo
-
Takes wonderful pics, is great to shoot, but nothing super up close (you will need a better lens for that).
-
Even with a moderately wide aperture, the lens performs exceptionally well under low-light situations
-
Being the photography editor for my collegiate newspaper, I'm always on the lookout for great camera, lens, and gear deals for the upcoming year
-
It is very off balanced, front weighted with any decent lens longer than 50mm.
-
The lens that comes with it isn't the best - I recommend upgrading to something with a longer range, but it's a pain to carry around multiple lenses
-
It has a great lens that it comes with (18-55mm) and the battery life is great
-
I caught this camera on sale and had it bundled with a backpack, a memory card and a nice long distance lens for just under 420.00.
-
A good photographer can take great shots with an old Pentax K1000 + an appropriate lens, and this T3 offers the same high performance potential at a very reasonable price, plus it's point and shoot results are fabulous.
-
so i suggest that you should buy better lens
-
The bottom line is the lens is more important than the camera if comparing all Canon models under $1000.00
-
By buying this camera instead of the T3i, I was able to get a nice zoom lens bundled with it for the same total price I would have paid for just the T3i kit
-
I recently took a picture of my daughter from 10 feet away using an inexpensive 50mm lens
-
and I'm pleased to have this camera because my pictures are really crisp and clear, the lens it comes with is great
-
It has a ton of features, the lens is impeccable and it allows you take very detailed pictures
-
+ 55-250 is lens for 562.5 $, really great
-
The body alone is a fantastic investment and the lens does great once you learn how to utilize it properly.
-
I wish I could have afforded a longer lens but the kit lens (18-55mm) is sufficient for now.
-
As I learn more about DSLRs I may purchase a better quality lens and see if this helps
-
In fact, I purchased a 50-200 zoom lens from Sigma, and it works perfectly with the T3
-
As a WARNING: The lens will scratch easily
-
I love this lens and would recommend it to accompany this camera.
-
The quality of the picture is amazing the 18-55mm is a great starter lens
-
I have the 75-300mm lens as well for this and love the lens because it will reach all the way across the ball field for me to get that perfect shot.
-
For other new DSLR users, try the Nikon D3100 if you prefer which comes with a pretty good kit lens and is better built than the T3 --- do not get the Nikon D3000 which is cheaper but uses old tech and is not worth its cheap price.
-
For now, I advise people that you get what you pay for and if you truly want awesome shots you may have to fork out a little more for a better lens (and/or camera body) and photography lessons!
-
I have the 55-250 zoom lens (less than $200 bucks), and I love it.

You can view my review of the Sony NEX-5RK/S 16.1 MP Compact Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens and 3-Inch LCD (Silver) here if you are interested:http://www.amazon.com/review
-
so far this camera has far exceeded my expectations the included lens is great and the camera itself is wonderful i purchased this along with the
-
Awesome camera; can't believe what we paid for it... great deal, great brand, great potential (lens capability)... for the price!
-
This is an excellent lens to start out with.
-
You'll need a faster lens right away to be happy with this camera
-
I do keep good care of it and clean the lens when need be but these canon cameras are built well
-
sensorLast but not least: the T3 is a great "stepping stone" offering "point and shoot" or camera control as photographer's choice, and as the EF-S type lenses are compatible through the EOS/Rebel line generally -- a lens that you add for the T3 might be used also on a T3i or 60D that you add later -- which you won't do if you go into a "high end" "point
-
But after awhile, you'll be craving for other better lens, which are just as expensive as the camera, if not more
-
wish i would have just waited a little longer found the same deal at sams club for a little bit more could have had a camera case plus a zoom lens worth alot more!
-
The lens is also great -- it avoids the need for a wider lens (smaller mm #) since it starts at 18mm but is also great if you're into portraits since it goes up to 55mm.
-
For the extra money that the T2i costs, I bought a 50mm, f/2.5 lens for my new camera (well, I had to chip in a few more bucks
-
The lenses I've primarily used in the month I've had the Rebel T3 have been the EF 28mm f/1.8, which provides a "normal" field of view, the EF 100mm f/2, which is ideal for head/face portraiture, and the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, which is an excellent lens for travel and casual shooting, with very modern Image Stabilization
-
$800 worth of delicate camera equipment just stuffed into a box with no cushioning to take up the air space, leaving the camera and lens free to bang around in the box
-
The only problem are the lens
-
I'm sure that professionals would trash it, and talk about how cheap the lens is, but this camera does EVERYTHING I need it for and more
-
The lens it comes with is perfect for portraits and I wouldn't recommend it for anything else.

-
Putting it on full auto is very helpfull if you just don't feel like manually focussing the lens or turning on the flash and so on
-
The lens will work on the T3, as they would have also worked on the T2i, or the T3i
-
The kit lens is also a great little lens
-
This will help keep the lens safe
-
The lens is easy enough to remove.
-
In the old days you could just take off the lens and clean the mirror for SLR Film cameras.
