A good photographer can take great shots with an old Pentax K1000 + an appropriate lens, and this T3 offers the same high performance potential at a very reasonable price, plus it's point and shoot results are fabulous.

Amazon's price was slightly more (some 5-10 $$ diff) than the price offered by other vendors/stores but then with the free shipping and timely delivery promise of Amazon i would prefer Amazon than other vendors

I moved up from a Nikon S3000 point and shoot (which takes good photos for a point and shoot), and was going to move to the D3100 but decided on the T3 because of its Auto Exposure Bracketing feature (a must have if you want to take HDR)and cheaper price

For other new DSLR users, try the Nikon D3100 if you prefer which comes with a pretty good kit lens and is better built than the T3 --- do not get the Nikon D3000 which is cheaper but uses old tech and is not worth its cheap price.
