It takes wonderful, clear pictures on the highest optical zoom.

I am still learning about all the manual settings, but it has taken really great pictures for me so far

But, it is really good when on a riverboat passing down a gorge in China and you want good pictures of temples on side of the mountain.

That said, it is very compact, takes reasonable pictures and a huge focal length range

The pictures are clear.
