The down fall is that the rubber broke and was scratching the shutter part of my car vent

These broke in months, the rubber came off the prongs that go into the vent...

After re-installing it multiple times, the rubber on the tongs starts to rip and can scratch vents if not careful.

Works great for a few months and then the black rubber around the teeth that hold it to the car start to deteriorate and the unit becomes worthless if you want to use this for more than a few months find something better

My wife's iphone 5s has a smooth rubber case that also slips and slides

This is rubber and doesn't scratch your vent.

The clamp cut thru the protective rubber exposing bear metal which in turn created deep scratches on both my Lexus and Honda vehicles... expensive to fix!!

The attachment piece is made of a hard rubber and it stays on the vent.
