If you're just laying this over top of a laminate or hardware hardwood floor to protect the flooring surface this will definitely serve its purpose

It is nice that it doesn't have any of the Little plastic tips that would normally dig into a floor so again if you are just wanting to protect a single surface it would serve its purpose, it's just quite thin.
