My only complaint about the power/charging set up is that you HAVE to have the docking base to charge the device.-The unit is actually quite easy to use right out of the box, there were many features that I turned off to conserve battery.-The unit has a nice weight to it, it feels like a proper radio, not a kids walkie-talkie.-I sort of wish that this radio had Bluetooth (the geek inside me wants it), the newer model does have bluetooth but does not have GMRS capabilities (You cannot talk to a Motorola Talk-about on the newer Cobra MR
