The power supply worked perfectly fine for about a month, then after that, whenever I started up an intensive game, had extreme coil whine coming from it

However if you're planning to put it under load like gaming or other intense processes, be cautious of coil whine

After reading that the coil whine is a common problem with Corsair CX line of modular and non-modular power supplies, I'd suggest that you do yourself a favor and try a different power supply.
