The microphone works well enough for loud sounds so if you plan on yelling no problem but seeing as that’s not the case I would not recommend the headphones for any casual gamer/recorder like myself unless you plan on using an alternative microphone.

The software is technically optional, as the headphones will work without the additional software, but if you don't install it, you would not be able to adjust the tone or certain features of the HS70.
