The volume works well for the classroom size space I speak in.

And you have to hold the microphone really close to your mouth in order to get that level of sound where the volume of the speaker is louder than your actual voice.

It might be useful to find a suitable volume setting and tape the adjustment wheel in that position for further fumbling reduction efforts.
