I have not had any trouble getting the caps to screw back on tight if I needed to remove one; but since I hate that tiny little eraser that typically comes with a pen & pencil set like this, I usually carry around a larger one.

Pen works fine but the Mechanical pencil with its strange guts and weak eraser needs to be tossed in the bin with the new coke

Only bit of advice I can give, find a good eraser for soft led also, as the eraser in this pencil is quite small, and costly to replace when worn out

Not only does it wear down faster, but using a stupid skinny little eraser makes the erasing process take longer.5

The only good thing about this new system is that after you get tired of the crummy little eraser and small lead capacity (or after the click mechanism breaks), you can just remove this stupid adapter and replace it with a ballpoint refill.

The lead doesn't break as often since I press down a little too hard.

I have always been using Cross Pens both for my professional work as well as for my personal use

and I recommend you, you will love them as soon as you try them
