Cuisinart DCC-1150BK 10-Cup Classic Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker, Black

    • After about a year I noticed that the "warming plate" started to rust through
    • Then, once coffee is brewed, if I don't wait for each and every drop to make its way into the carafe before removing it, coffee WILL drip onto the hot plate, causing that nasty burnt coffee smell and crackling sound
    • As a result, I never leave the carafe on the hot plate past a minute or two
    • I can't say that the maker brews a great cup of coffee, but I can say it keeps the coffee great and drinkable from the time I leave for work till I get home (only if it's over 1/2 full, lower than that and it will be warm and drinkable, but not hot).Since it doesn't have to stay on a hot plate you can take the carafe around the house (say to the deck) and not worry about having it go cold too fast as you enjoy your cup
    • It was working fine; but had a funny clicking noise coming from the hot plate as if there was water between the carafe and the warming plate; however, I would check and there was no water.
    • the warming plate(not a deal breaker.
    • The old one was replaced because of a rusted warming plate.
    • Caraffe on resting plate, not hot plate
    • Yes, the hot plate eventually got rusty...but it still works like a champ
    • My original unit was replaced by Cuisinart directly after purchasing because the clock was defective, but instead of a new unit, they sent a refurbished one which had a 'pre-rusted' resting pad which some might refer to a warming plate which it is NOT.
    • Also, the thermal units do NOT have an electric warming plate, which prevents over-cooking the coffee whilst it sits on the warmer
    • I love this coffee maker but the carafe spoils the good because with the drip of the coffee it will eventually get into the warmer plate and mess it up.
    • Complaint #2, and this one may be tied for first, is the water leaking onto the hot plate
    • While the brewer does make a decent pot of coffee, the plate the pot rests on is awful.
    • Last Night, the coffee maker was OFF and he auto brew function was NOT set, I believe it was the HOT plate because the four cups of coffee left in the pot was boiling as smoke was poring out the back of the unit,My wife was already
    • It's not acceptable to have this problem and it's not safe when hot coffee is everywhere, including on the hot plate and the wires.
    • however I'm not happy that the finish comes off the hot plate, which is the reason I bought a new one
    • Cuisinart DCC-1100BK 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, BlackThis purchase was to replace an eight-year old identical unit that was leaking, had a deteriorating heating plate, and that no longer made coffee as strong or as hot as in the past
    • After less than 2 years, the warming plate started to rust
    • The internal charcoal filter in the water reservoir is useless, and after about 2 years the warming plate corroded and rusted
    • The plate gets burned
    • Carafe is essential because I won't drink burnt/warming plate coffee
    • I am happy with performance and found that it has a much hotter plate resulting in the much hotter coffee I love
    • I like everything about this coffee maker except the fact that the hot plate eventually will rust
    • I've had this coffee maker for about 5 months and the bottom warming plate has dis-colored and looks old already
    • The coffee is just over luke warm when it is perked and when it is finished perking the machine shuts off and the hot plate under the coffee pot also shuts off so the coffee starts getting colder right away, by the time you are drinking the third cup you have to microwave it to get it hot.
    • After less than 2 years, the warming plate started to rust
    • The internal charcoal filter in the water reservoir is useless, and after about 2 years the warming plate corroded and rusted
    • Also, the way it was made it seemed like the warming plate was always getting coffee on it during the brewing process and it was impossible to clean after a while
    • In addition, the warmer plate will randomly not heat.
    • Last Night, the coffee maker was OFF and he auto brew function was NOT set, I believe it was the HOT plate because the four cups of coffee left in the pot was boiling as smoke was poring out the back of the unit,My wife was already
    • The hot plate scorched through in a spot which, in turn, burned the carafe.... which worsened over time.
    • I wish it didn't have a hot plate underneath, as it's unnecessary with a thermal carafe and develops burn spots if anything drips on it
    • The first one still worked after 2 1/2 years, but I wanted a new one because there was caffeine build-up around the plastic cover and the "hot plate" was losing some of its coating.
    • This model is of simpler construction and lacks the adjustable hot plate temperature
    • The hot plate element even keeps the coffee hot enough that it doesn't have to be reheated when having a 2nd cup
    • Yes, the hot plate eventually got rusty...but it still works like a champ
    • and it's hot only if you use the 2-4 cup feature, but it has significant bottom plate rusting in 3-6 months.
    • The warming plate keeps the coffee very hot
    • The old one was replaced because of a rusted warming plate.
    • It makes great coffee and the thermal lining of the carafe keeps it hot for several hours without "cooking" it on the hot plate.
    • Second, this does not have a warmer plate
    • I believe this hot plate should have a Teflon finish.
    • Is the carafe so poorly insulated that they felt the need for the hot plate
    • After about a year I noticed that the "warming plate" started to rust through
    • I noticed that they've added a hot plate that the carafe sits on that automatically shuts off a few minutes after the brewing stops
    • I've had it now for about 2 1/2 years, and am disappointed in the way the the lower warming plate has become extremely rusted
    • The "On" light turned off and the hot plate suddenly heated up to the point where we smelled the strong odor of burning plastic.
    • The hot plate quickly lost its black color, and looks terrible
    • Without soaking and jamming Q-tips in the lid, coffee will brew all over your countertop within 10 months... soon after, the hot plate will peel and rust... then, it will simply spit out 1/2 cup of coffee and steam
    • Bottom plate rusted and peeled.
    • It's beginning to look used and the warmer plate has corroided as others have mentioned.
    • Any water that makes its way to the bottom of the unit will corrode the bottom plate
    • I used filtered water it still corroded the bottom plate
    • No warmer plate means no scalded "police station" coffee, which turns bitter just minutes after fresh brewing!I also bought a JustInCase safety deck (available on the web) which is 2" deep, to put this unit on.
    • There is no hot plate to keep it hot.
    • Apparently not according to Cuisinart because this thermal system does indeed have a hot plate
    • While I pour water from the carafe into the reservoir, water often leaks from the carafe and finds its way down through the filter and onto the hot plate
    • My only gripe would be the hot plate part always gets funky and looks bad eventually
    • One small down side is the machine's warming plate lost some paint after only two
    • Now, I thought the reason for thermal carafe coffee makers was to eliminate the need for a warming plate so the coffee could be kept warm without ruining the flavor
    • One feature which we like is that the "warming plate" is not that, so you don't have to shut off, or rely on auto shut-off of the coffee maker
    • I've had it now for about 2 1/2 years, and am disappointed in the way the the lower warming plate has become extremely rusted
    • l love it.
    • excellent A++++
    • The lid is difficult to remove as well as to replace it on the carafe
    • I haven' t got it cleared yet.
