I imagine this would only be a concern for someone trying to warm a small lightweight cup.overall a good value for my use, and I would consider purchasing again if I wanted a mug warmer in a second location.

Towards the lower watt end for mug warmers

It certainly warmed the mug; the exterior was definitely hotter, but the coffee inside was below room temperature

The fact that I can drag the mug across the surface to get a better grip before lifting it works well for me.
