    D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Size Violin Strings 4/4 Size Set with Steel E String

    • Helicores are favorites for fiddle players.
    • I find the Helicores are brighter, and since I have a nicer instrument now, I still have a rich tone that really is enhanced by the brightness, making the Helicores just a better fit
    • Comparatively, the Helicores when new had a wonderful, complex tone/sound (as well as having plenty of volume), perfect for my instrument
    • Not sure they will last as long or be as pitch stable--helicores last a long time and stay in tune better than any other string I've used.
    • However, I have consistently found the high e to be excessively tense.
    • Just got them in today and while tuning the violin the stupid e string broke.
    • I have since gone back to the set with the solid steel E string.
    • It has a nice round tone all the time, even compared to the Olive Gold E that I chose to play because I hate an E that shrieks
    • Many people have trouble with E strings--this E string sounds very nice.
    • So, I typically add H311W to the order just to have an extra E string available
    • Note that there are two sets of Helicore mediums, and this particular set has a wrapped E string (as opposed to a solid steel E string).
