It makes great sound not too loud

The wood maracas create a soothing rhythmic sound when shaken and the wood is smooth and pleasant to touch.

The sound is not very loud or resonant (which some could consider a good thing).

OK if you just want something to pound on but not very melodious or even tinkling---very cheesy sound and have to hit rather hard to even get more than a plink.
