    • The video transfer is very grainy and of extremely poor quality.
    • It took a while to figure out what setting to put to get a decent quality capture
    • Do not expect great quality from old vhs tapes, but at least you can preserve family movies for future generations.
    • There must be a better way to record better quality with
    • made.but here is another thing that is worthless when you try to burn a dvd with show biz the quality is crap, the file you record is better though,so if you want to post it directly to

    • but the quality was absolutely terrible
    • I've been able to save old VHS recordings (not the best quality but poor in, poor out) from years ago and the best thing is Directv DVR recordings are easy to save onto an external hard drive.
    • The quality of image is not good.
    • but the quality of the DVDs are mediocre.
    • However, there seems to be no color on the converted videos, tried all formats (NTSC, PAL etc), the player I was using was NTSC and the tape recorded was in the same format too, yet, I could never get any color in the converted videos, worse still, the quality of the recording was not usable, it was highly pixelated, tried all available options (DVD, VCD etc)
    • Not good quality
    • I found one format that had good picture quality but audio got out of sync after 45min to 60 min of video.
    • Also, the capture software included produces very good, crisp audio and decent, reliable video quality for local video captures; I don't get the same lag I would sometimes get out of my old GameBridge
    • The quality was as good as I expected it to be, which is to say it's not 100%
    • Exactly what content would anybody be trying to digitize from a VCR that is copyrighted?...old VCR tapes are not good quality, nobody wants to make a copy of a movie or something like that, even of they did, the content would be so old and the quality so bad...why would any owner of a copyright care of such a copy?
    • Although if you are just looking for a capture card to record then convert to a small multi-media device, then the quality will suffice.

    • The quality wasn't that bad and the audio was perfect
    • On windows 10 desktop machine - the install went well but the quality of the recorded video was terrible.
    • I tried converting it with my own tools to H.265 HEVC, and that worked well... but converting from a lossy format to another lossy format always loses some quality even with the much lower file size.
    • The quality is so laggy and blurry
    • I bought this, it worked for old vcr tapes, though the quality was poor
    • So, yes it does work once you figure it out but not very user friendly and not the best quality DVDs.

    • I did this on my Sony Handycam and it improved quality 110%
    • The digitizer worked, very small learning curve, quality isn’t very good.
    • The EZ software is easy to use, and does work, but limits you to only a few quality/recording profiles, all of which result in audio/video files far worse in quality (VERY noticeably worse) than VHS quality, which isn't good to being with
    • If not then adjust, record, adjust....on an on until you get a good quality video.
    • transfers are very good quality
    • Captured video is reasonable quality but shakee
    • I am always looking for the best buy on products, like the best for the least amount, but I'd be willing to spend a little more money for better quality
    • THE QUALITY WAS TERRIBLE
    • But what's even better is that it actually works and has good quality
    • Easy to use, copies are excellent quality.
    • Good quality video; really depends on how good the camera was that took the video, the videotape itself, and the length of time the VHS tapes sat around though.
    • Tried upping the resolution with a different video file conversion software and it is only as good as the VHS quality
    • I am returning this product, because the quality of the picture when going through this device is horrible.

    • This is capable of better quality than my tapes.
    • The quality of the video is good as well as the sound
    • Not the best quality but still pretty good and easy to use
    • And good luck trying to resell the product to someone with XP because Diamond will assault you with a Cease and Desist order (which may actually be a good thing for buyers given the very poor quality of the product).
    • The quality is not bad but there is some type of feedback that makes lines in the background
    • When it does work the quality is mediocre at best
    • I bought it to replace my 10 year old firewire IO Data video encoder and the quality of this USB device is worse.
    • I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that a $30 video capture device produces poor quality video
    • And let it be said that the quality of your final product will be poor since VHS was, in terms of todays HD quality stuff, very low res.
    • I should of came on here before I ordered this, and what I thought would of been a good use of 40 bucks turned out to be a 40 dollar headache, yes this will work with windows 10 but the quality is pretty bad,but I like how they say this is simple and it ain't folks, once I downloaded this from the cd it comes with it didn't work,so I had to contact their tech support and was told that I had to get the file for the audio and video drive off their site which I
    • Do you want to be able to just let it go, but lose quality and have a larger file (6GB per 2 hour VHS in EZ Grabber, around 4GB in PD)?Since this piece of hardware uses some pretty standard/basic composite audio/video drivers, there shouldn't be anything stopping you from trying out other software that isn't included in this product that might work better, but I haven't been able to try any, so that is a possible option
    • The quality is pretty good, not perfect and there is a mild hiss in the background.
    • Not the best quality and kinda hard to use software sucks and takes
    • Also, the file size with the DVD quality option of EZ Grabber is 50% more than that of a better quality Power Director 12 output file

    • The first 3 are correct aspect ratio but different quality and sizes
    • Easy to connect, and provides decent quality, for the price
    • The quality is good, not excellent, but good.
    • I actually feel like I could get better quality by using my iPhone to view the analog video on a TV and record it
    • This one was more expensive and the video quality was very similar although on some of the pictures that I had several people assess, this one won the side by side comparison for better visual quality
    • less good image quality after digitalization of VHS tape.
    • I recommend the Diamond VC500 Capture Device - it does what it is supposed to do and the quality of the capture is as good as the original - don't see a reason to spend more on a different pricier device.
    • The quality is good, not excellent, but good.
    • When converting tapes, the quality was terrible
    • If only it could magically correct the 20+ year old image quality.
    • And all I can say is an incredibly powerful product, however the the sound gets a little delayed, nothing that couldn't be fixed in post, but I love the video quality
    • I really debated between 2 or 3 stars, but the quality of the recording is so poor I decided on 2 stars
    • 1290 kbps Stretched video, poor quality
    • 980 kbps Stretched video, poor quality
    • Another big problem of the converter is that when recording, a small unstable picture quality happened, e.g., some picture jumps, the recording stops immediately, but the film still running
    • The quality is great, and I don't even have to have my tv on to record
    • There are other softwares with better quality
    • The image's quality not good as well
    • Transferred a VHS tape and it came out as good quality as the VHS
    • The quality is better than I had expected (my expectations were low) for VHS tapes that were 20 years old.
    • Who cares about trying to eek out the best quality copy if the audio is not synched?Additionally, the install program is a joke
    • Poor quality
    • Easy to use, but can use up a ton of memory on the better quality setting
    • Recording from VHS to to DVD was easy, and the quality is excellent.
    • if you don't mind the quality being crap then by all means this will do the job.
    • The quality of the video, however, is awful
    • Instead I got incredibly poor quality pixelated recordings with more skipped frames than not and out of sync audio.

    • I bought this to convert my vhs tapes to digital but the quality to too poor for my taste
    • I used one of my better quality cables for audio and had an old S-video cable that I used for the video feed
    • Quality of capture is also pretty poor
    • Good quality image too.
    • Very easy to use, and our old family vhs videos converted to DVD easily and with good quality.
    • So far seems to work well for VHS-C/DVD transfer, quality fair to very good, doesn't seem to be 720 lines as advertised but that may be my program material
    • Gave me pretty good quality transfers for both VHS and Cassette.
    • Horrible video quality using this device.
    • The only major complaint I have is that the quality of the capture is not as good as it could be and it would be nice if the software package included would allow capture in more formats than what is available.
    • I use VirtualDub to record and to play, then I just render it with Camtasia Studio, but the quality is still pretty good, but it depends on your pc and software
    • The quality of the video is as good as you could expect from a
    • Futhermore, the quality of the output video is bad, I have tried various setting of TV PAL signal and output video, but unsuccessfully

    • The best quality (i.e. poor) came from the simplest video: an old 1950s black and white film
    • The combo dvd vhs transfer device $200 has a better quality transfer
    • Knowing this now I might opt for the cheaper EasyCAP unit, but overall the quality of the product is good and the capture software works, although it will flicker when using SVIDEO until you tell it that SVIDEO is the source instead of auto detect.
    • For the best video quality, you need to capture directly in native format (AVI file) without conversion and only do a conversion to mpeg2 when burning to a DVD
    • so the quality isn't as good when seen on a 4K TV, but that is to be expected.
    • If you have an old videotape with less than perfect quality video on it, this device tends to stop the recording, saying it cannot proceed due to "copyrighted material"
    • Even if your input video is good quality it will come out of the VC500 looking like garbage
    • I did not like the transfer quality of the video
    • Worked as advertised and produced very good quality videos

    • Loses sync, poor overall quality
    • I only got to use it once before I said screw it and threw it away into a box or into the trash since the quality was awful.
    • First thing to point out is it does not have the best picture quality
    • My only problem is that the quality of the video it encodes is really really bad.
    • not the best recording quality
    • If you would like to do editing of sections of the recording, such as improving image quality and/or easily cutting out segments, then, this product WILL NOT do the job
    • Software is extremely easy to use, you get a choice of several formats (default MPG seemed to be the best quality)
    • I want good quality digital files.
    • I can't really attest to the quality of the videos because vhs doesn't exactly have the greatest quality to begin with, but the output seems to match well with the input
    • So far I am undecided, first few trys the quality wasn't very good.
    • the quality is good.
    • Doesn't record audio, and video is very poor quality, waste of time and money

    • I should of came on here before I ordered this, and what I thought would of been a good use of 40 bucks turned out to be a 40 dollar headache, yes this will work with windows 10 but the quality is pretty bad,but I like how they say this is simple and it ain't folks, once I downloaded this from the cd it comes with it didn't work,so I had to contact their tech support and was told that I had to get the file for the audio and video drive off their site which I

    • The quality of this is terrible
    • You'll need to make sure that the cable connects to the Diamond VC500 as well as to the camera, VCR, or whatever you're recording from
    • The video capture works great but the software is confusing as does not work as it should, I.E. once you do the video capture you should be able to pause it and do a snap shot
    • Very frustrating as it would not work.
    • Works as it is supposed to however teh Producer software 12 leaves a lot to be imagined.
    • Diamond Multimedia USB 2.0 Video Capture Device works as it said it would with my Mac.
    • I also have an older computer which has a Light Scribe feature on it so after I burn a
    • Once I had everything hooked up correctly it worked as it was supposed to, it's seems to me to be a bit more work than I wanted because I have to manually stop capturing the tapes
    • But the unit works as it should.
    • can only hope the next one would work as it suppose to
    • haven't tried the ArcSoft yet) when it comes to it recording the video to the format you select (would be nice to select the output size as well as it should be able to compensate with pixel duplication), but other than that I am impressed with how easy it worked and how good the resulting digitized video is
    • Actually, it worked the first time as I would expect but subsequently when I start EZ grabber the program seems to load into an odd state.
    • I have one bright blue led (L) only when I plug in to the USB which leads me to believe the unit is defective
    • Anything over 75% quality and I loose sync after about 45 minutes
    • Good I liked
    • I have a 1T hard drive in my Windows 10 laptop, so I have plenty of hard disc space
