When I moved to my house in 2004, you could still by a cheap carpet for five to six bucks a square yard and the good stuff around 15-20 dollars.

The place I have it located, I had to have a bookshelf on top of it, and I was worried that the weight of the bookshelf, with the soft carpet below, was going to snap the plastic, but it seems to be doing just fine, over a week later.
