The sound is good, but they break

As a result, I'm no longer able to use these otherwise excellent sound isolating headphones

I could have the mix at a very comfortable level and my drums sounded great (as they always do through headphones/earplugs).

29 dB isolation, very good sound, and incredibly much more comfortable to wear than previous models

Of course what really sold me on them was the exceptional sound quality

I've used several different headphones in the past few years including much less expensive Sony and Creative Labs on-ear varieties and found that they did nearly as good a job blocking sound and have lasted at least a year

Very good isolation, and the sound is pleasant, not at all harsh

Whilst they isolate pretty well, the sound is worse than cheap airline headphones

They do work as advertised, as they prevent sound from leaking out, but the passive isolation is basically non-existent

The Direct Sound headphones have the advantage that being passive they require no batteries and also they do not introduce the white noise hissing sound of the Koss phones

The Extreme Isolation headphones do not leak sound to the outside - even at volumes much higher than I could stand to listen to.

prefer the sound of these to my HD 600's

The earpieces seem nice, and they have decent sound, but I have to hold them against my head with my hands to use them

I am impressed with the Direct Sound EX29 Extreme Isolation Headphones which can be as low as $99

The ex29 isolates very well, maybe not as well as good in-ear solutions, but better than my 280 or my AKG studio headphones....virtually no bleed out, and with a surprisingly smooth sound, very flat , no noticeable hype at all.....quite good for closed back

The sound of EX29 is OK and not irritating

The reason for my rating of 4 stars is I evaluated these headphones in 2 different applications --5 stars for comfortable sound isolation when recording an instrument in a noisy environment

For me, as a drummer, I was seeking the sound isolation - they do isolate the sound very well, however, external bass drum sounds created a 'boom' resonance in the headphones that was unusable for me

At medium to high volume settings in my radio....the head[phones have a nasty "vibration" or raspy sound, which is especially bad when listening to CW..

I wasn't expecting stellar headphone sound, but something that could help provide great isolation (so the drummers could easily hear the headphone mix without blowing up a pair of headphones).

Great sound, but the cushion part around the ear fell off within a week.
