On my high C string, the coating cracked/separated at each fret, the outer coating then shifted on the strings occasionally resulting in a dead sounding note - this was after playing the strings only a half dozen or so times.

Well, the coating seems to be no better than when it was first introduced years ago

Good strings but not sure the new coating is any better than the old.
