    Electro-Harmonix Soul Food Distortion/Fuzz/Overdrive Pedal

    • The "Treble" adjustment is helpful for dialing in a bright or dark sound, though I often leave it at a neutral setting (or just slightly below neutral to wick away some treble depending on the guitar setup I've got in front of it).
    • Great sound when paired with a Fender Stratocaster guitar
    • Fantastic sound
    • It's a good sound for an in-your-face brown sound but may not be transparent enough to be truly versatile
    • My main overdrive is a Green Rhino, which has a great grainy sound, but this is very different from that.
    • Even all the way cranked up, you're going to get more of a Matthew Sweet "Sick of Myself" kind of sound.
    • The problem is that this great sound is essentially unusable due to the very loud "pop" that is produced each time the pedal is switched on or off.
    • The only negative is that the very first time you engage the pedal, there is loud "pop" sound, but after that first time it doesn't make the sound
    • I like the sound quite a bit
    • Lovely sounding boost/overdrive pedal
    • I have modded tube screamers and didn't like the sound,The reason I started modding one because I didn't like the sound and even though I made it better, someone else owns the pedal now
    • It can give your clean sound a nice chunky boost, or add some dirt and crunch to your riffs, or go to extremes in either fuzz or distortion, with every tone in between.
    • It can give your clean sound a nice chunky boost, or add some dirt and crunch to your riffs, or go to extremes in either fuzz or distortion, with every tone in between.
    • It is quite bright sounding, but the treble control has a pretty strong effect in both directions
    • Definitely the best sounding OD under $100 I've ever had.
    • There are lots of choices out the now when it comes to overdrive pedals, but a good sounding overdrive for such a great price is a nice surprise for sure.
    • The gain added by SF is retro-sounding and pleasantly smooth
    • Awesome sound
    • The sound is sweet but powerful
    • Great sound.

    • The OCD sounded muddy compared to
    • Will probably evolve to become an always-on effect near the front of my chain with certain guitars, especially for clean and slightly overdriven sounds.
    • Depending on the pick up of your guitar, it will purify and enhance that sound and truly elevate it.
    • It's a little counter intuitive, but this light, transparent distortion is great for giving an electric violin a smoother, more natural sound
    • It sucks, because I adored the sound, but I will probably look elsewhere for a replacement.
    • Many would produce a strong but rough sound-- good for cutting through the background with some lead guitar.
    • It has a lot of potential in many genres and styles of music thanks to its wide Drive range and transparency, and just might be the missing piece to that perfect sound you've been after.
    • we expect this type of pedal to thicken and darken the sound, simply because that's what almost all of them do
    • I did a great job and used high in audiophile grade stuff and really smoothed out the sound but never what I wanted
    • It's definitely not a Klon Centaur but this baby does have a great sound
    • Which is a GREAT sound and very useful, just be warned it's not really a "distortion" box by most standards
    • For a more aggressive sound you'll want a Boss DS-1 or Big Muff Pi (two good options out of many).
    • Also important to note, and I don't know if this is just the particular pedal I received, or if it is indicative of all of them, it has a very annoying tonal flaw when setting the drive at anywhere around 9 to 11 o'clock where it just adds this nasty noisy gritty sound to the front end of the note
    • and you'll get a sweet sounding overdrive lightly fuzzed sound the pedal is known for
    • So as you introduce more gain, it mixes out a relative amount of the clean boost sound
    • and I love it - great build quality, great sound, great functionality
    • Makes this squawking cyclical sound and doesn't work
