The plastic has deteriorated over this period ( it was never particularly robust ) so I cannot recommend its purchase

Releasing the phone places a lot of stress on the cheap plastic, there is no way it will last

Must not be very good plastic

, it is just hard plastic and to withstand the repeated bending it needs something

plastic gets stressed over time and will eventually weaken to the point of failure.
