The reality is that I won't use the batteries to their full lifetimes, like 1800 times (eneloops), or 1500 times (these Energizer batteries)

Like most other chargers, batteries have to be charged in pairs (i.e. either 2 or 4 batteries total), but the trapezoidal shape makes it easy to insert or remove individual batteries, and there are no moving parts to worry

At the end of the day, I would recommend the Eneloop batteries and charger over this; but, these are still pretty decent batteries.
