    • Does a good job on prints, 35mm slides, and negatives
    • This scanner does an AMAZING job of auto-cropping each photo (if there is at least 1/4" between each photo) or letting you tell it where to crop and then saving each one in it's own file.
    • Does a good job with slides and multiple photos on the scanner bed, brings old, faded color photos back to life.

    • The V550 does a poor job of determining the correct frame edge if the negatives have a black background

    • I had a less expensive Epson scanner and it did a fine job on regular size negatives and photos
    • Does a great job with black and white
    • It does a nice job however and a plus is that if you are still one of the few who wants the scanner to adjust colors for you then this might be ok
    • And the ICE software can do a good job removing dust etc but it leaves artifacting around edges too much
    • Although this is not a pro-grade scanner it does a great job in scanning clean photos and documents.
    • The Epson does a good job of color and brightness
    • Does a good job of cleaning up old photos.
    • It's true that it won't do as good a job or scan as many negatives as it's bigger brothers but for the money it is tough to beat
    • The 'Digital ICE' setting does a fairly good job of removing dust marks from the picture.
    • The software does a nice job of enhancing old photos
    • The scanner does a decent job separating out the photos into individual thumbnails, but as noted in some reviews, if you don't leave some space in between them (usually 1/2 inch) the scanner may NOT separate them properly
    • How can I say this, but the glass is nothing more than a plan piece of cheap-o windowpane glass, not like the solid glass that Epson scanners used years previous, and the glass is not "smooth"
    • Scanned numerous old B&W film negatives greater than 35 mm in size; up to 3 1/2 X 5
