At first I was concerned about the end being flat and not pointy, since I point cut into the tip of my ends to hide any imperfections or unevenness in my DIY cut, but the flat ends works great for point cutting!

The front end of the scissors is relatively smooth and safe.

Admittedly I have never cut my own hair until now, but the reason I bought supposedly sharp hair shears instead of using my dull kitchen scissors is that these shears were supposed to prevent split ends
