For me in Dallas I turn off X band and K band, as I haven't seen any cops use it in forever and they are always false alarms.

This is a top-of-the-line package folks!I have owned several other brands of radar detectors including Whistler and Cobra and frankly, the Passport 8500X50 consistently alarms at twice the distance, and much less frequently gives false alarms

My old detector (not an escort) is going on 6-8 years old now and has always worked great until recently I have been getting a lot of false alarms.

I recently took a long trip to see some family, and on more rural roads it worked perfectly- was able to slow down and avoid tickets at numerous speed traps (5 or 6) and only had 1 or 2 false alarms.

I like the Expert mode as it displays the Ka strength and band, with a little experience you can very quickly tell if an alarm is false from a store usually (24.xxx) or a trooper (usually around 35.000).

In my area I turn off "x" on city mode and it cuts down false alarms considerably!
