The 8500 has performed well since TSR is turned on which is not by default, it will give out useless K bands at traffic lights otherwise

,City/Auto mode doesn't have any effect on false K band alerts in the city

KA band is extremely lackluster with most PD being in sight before the radar detector actually goes off

The range on the critical bands in my region (K, Ka) is slightly better than the original - which is to say excellent

I believe that you can disable X band to address this - but felt that I could manage without it

Since there is little or no K-Band used by police in my sphere of travel, I disable that band when on the highway, and enable it for city cruising

X band produces lots and lots of fake alarms and X band is never used by the police

every band is adjustable, you can turn it off if you don't need to detect it, the display is customizable... the effectiveness of this product is a 10/10

Very nice when you go into the programming menu and do the following:Change startup beep to ShortCompletely Disable X Band in City Mode - leave radar detector set to city modeChange Idle screen to Volt Meter (identified a bad charging system in one car)Change to Expert Mode Meter (shows multiple targets)

I actually find myself driving slower as to really be more aware of the surroundings.

If you are too much of a cheap a $$ to buy a radar detector and you still speed you deserve the ticket
