Essential Phone with Free Earphones - Black Moon

    • I think people on the web say that the camera is terrible on this phone
    • but I also know the phone is fast, sleek and a truly amazing and with the updates, the camera has gotten quite good
    • I found out just how important the camera is to me when my 2 year old was doing something cute, and i was unable to capture it with the slow and unresponsive camera.
    • The camera is just fine (now) and I've had many updates to make the phone even better
    • I in fact decidied sacrificing on camera quality for its sturdy make, and super premium hardware and materials, watchong those misleading videos which declare the camera as mediocre, and some even saying total crap
    • I previously owned the moto g4, and the essential is almost an exact replica (without the cool Harry Potter commands, unfortunately).I love this phone, but again, the camera is absolute garbage
    • now)Cons:Camera needs more tlc.
    • Oh, also the camera is insanely good!!
    • Camera is really fine and fast on Android 8.1
    • with that said the camera is fine as far as phones go and the 360 camera is a hoot to play with
    • I planned on using it as my daily phone in exchange for the iPhone 7, but it just has a way too poor camera
    • Camera, although greatly improved still has a way to go to truly be
    • The camera is still not the best out there in low light, despite Essential's many updates
    • The camera is slow, mediocre, and buggy.
    • Hate the camera, the sotware experience is superb.
    • But without a decent camera it just isn't going to be my daily phone
    • If I want a better camera I'll buy the 180 clip on attachment or I'll use a standard hand held camera.
    • BUT, the front camera is pure garbage
    • The sometimes maligned camera is not bad.
    • Many reviews claim the camera is bad, but after the system update I learned that the camera is actually very good, and user friendly
    • the camera INCLUDED I really can't complain
    • Otherwise, nice screen quality, decent camera, fast, doesn't slow down.
    • (3) Camera still crash while taking
    • It is not water proof (This part is not as bad as the camera for me)3
    • One of the things that i really enjoy about this phone even though everyone else seems to hate its the camera, i really enjoy the mono camera, the regular camera, its not that
    • The camera still lags behind other phones I've used though.
    • Though the B&W camera is cool.
    • The pure camera has been fantastic for me, so a small downgrade is not a big deal for me
    • The weak camera program is easily replaced with OpenCamera on the Play Store.2
    • Since then there have been several firmware updates both for security and to improve the camera among other things
    • But even with a just-good-enough camera and with the design choice headaches, in the past month I've come to love certain things about this phone
    • As it is known, the camera is the flaw of the phone
    • It looks good, and the camera is nice, but unless you sell your soul to the wireless devil, you are out of luck in getting anything off this phone
    • The camera is not the best on a smartphone, but Essential is constantly improving it with updates
    • The biggest annoyance of this phone is obviously the front camera
    • If you want quality photographs, or if you fancy yourself a photographer, get a camera so people will actually take you seriously
    • The camera quite good, but not amazing.
    • Camera could have been more, but not too many complaints for the base
    • I compared pictures of the same subjects with a friend who has a Pixel (currently considered by many the best camera phone out there), and it was no contest
    • Robust phone, great performances (snap 835, 4Gb, ...); decent camera, superb screen
    • The camera is so easy to use.
    • , the cameras suck, you know, the usual complaints.
    • Camera is laughable without restoring to downloading septate Google camera APK
    • Multiple camera software updates after it got initial poor camera reviews on first release
    • The camera is the only downside but it has been improved a lot through updates to the point where I don't feel like it is a sacrifice anymore
    • Camera works very well in all the ways I've tried
    • Camera is good enough if you just want to take a visible picture
    • Down side would be the camera is really fuzzy in low light and the software actually manages to hurt not help the problem
    • The camera is still not the greatest, but it is definitely better with Essential's many updates to it.
    • The camera is fine for what I need it for
    • but the camera is still lacking as of may 4th of 2018.
    • The camera continues to improve though it definitely needs an update
    • It just isn't a very good camera
    • , camera won't work if an update is available and you haven't installed it ( who does that ??? ).
    • The only shortcoming is, yes, the camera
    • I've previously been a user of the Nexus 5X, and I felt burned by it time and time again with camera issues and random freezes.
    • One of the best ennovations this year coming from a fairy new company Essential PH 1. premium craftsmanship and excellent software only downside is the cameras need more improvements
    • The 360 camera is fun to play with, but for me: no practical use
    • Because those flaws mostly being the camera
    • The camera is actually pretty darn good
    • Feels great in the hand.. camera is fine
    • Even after the camera (which I knew going in would be bad, just not THAT bad) the phone has serious lag while scrolling and crashes apps left and right
    • Other than the screen, the camera has issues
    • Camera is pretty good.
    • Taking too many pictures in a short time makes the camera freeze up and crash (and the camera autofocuses on random objects, unlike the pixel or iphones, which are very good at focusing on the most important object-- usually a face-- in the picture). All in all, very disappointing
    • You'll read everywhere that the camera needs some work
    • The camera is okay, not as good as the camera on my Samsung G6The pros
    • all the time- Super terrible camera- Charger isn't micro-
    • The camera is also really good
    • If you want a great camera, spend twice as much (!) for an iPhone X or a Pixel 2
    • Camera is decent
    • The camera has similar qualities, and I really like its simplicity
    • The 360 camera worked fine
    • Camera is trash, still, after all those fixes
    • Fast performing, excellent camera quality, sound couldn't be better.
    • LG's and Samsungs I have had in the past rarely locked up, if ever)- Battery is unpredictable (might last all day, but fades really quick)- Camera is downright terrible, even for my standards- Awful reception (I have more dead zones than I ever did before and where iPhone works fine)- Poor support (nobody's heard of this phone)- Volume Controls are all over the place, change at random, and have limited setting options
    • Loved the Monochrome camera
    • Stock Android, smooth and fastCons: None (maybe camera
    • The camera is also much improved since release
    • Camera has much improved
    • The camera, in particular, is working smoothly now, and more enhancements are promised for it
    • love the lastest system camera
    • The camera is very good not "spectacular", performance is stellar, storage is spectacular.
    • so I couldn't really say if the camera is good or bad.
    • Awesome build, but buggy camera
    • My main qualm with past phones was their slow nature, so this made up for its lackluster camera and heaviness
    • The 360 camera is just brilliant
    • Camera is great for me
    • What's not so good? The main weakness of this phone is the camera
    • The camera isnt that great but might be with a firmware upgrade or 2
    • The rear camera is weak, the screen doesn't get nearly as bright as my Nexus 6P, even on its brightest setting
    • It isn't "the worst camera ever" though as some have claimed, it just doesn't stand out from the crowd of phones like galaxy/note and pixel
    • Sleek, good specs, unbrandedCons: Bad camera, power button on the side is too hard to press, unlock speed is slow compared to even cheaper phones, battery life isn't amazing*Software*Pros:
    • Other issues include internet glitching out, finger unlock won't recognize my finger and being locked out, phone seeming like being bricked and me rebooting phone, keyboard not registering my typing and the notorious slow camera
    • Camera is wonderful after camera software update!
    • Camera and other applications will not work
    • The biggest gripe everyone has about this phone is the camera, personally I don't use the camera for a lot of photographic moments
    • poor reception wifi and tmobile, poor camera not worth more
    • If you're extremely tech savvy and don't mind spending some time working on your phone, then this phone may just be everything you're looking for, but for the average consumer, until updates are released and a MUCH better camera is used, I'd suggest staying away
    • The camera is just not very good
    • It's small things like this that make the Essential phone truly enjoyable to use.+The Camera - While this phone started off with terrible camera performance, the many updates to the camera app have caused me to truly enjoy taking pictures
    • My only two drawbacks: camera is not as good as Pixel 2 (it sure has improved a bunch since launch, however, and is now a very capable shooter); and Bluetooth is not 100% reliable
    • The Essential camera's portrait mode works well, nicely blurring the background while keeping the subject sharp
    • 360 camera never worked on my phone though I got it to function on another essential
    • Unlocked with Full Display, Dual Camera - Pure White
    • I'm coming from a Galaxy S6 which had an amazing camera for it's time two years ago
    • Gorgeous hardware, camera is good enough with latest updates
    • Don't like the camera but love stock Android and the build quality
    • And the camera wasn't hideous
    • Definitely note I'm coming from the Nexus 6P, which had an outstanding camera, so my perception might be flawed
    • Camera was great after updating the app (like, really great - on par with most 2017 flagships) and I was blown away by the edge to edge screen
    • Camera a little slow
    • I have seen many other video reviews and articles saying that the camera is bad on this phone
    • I did notice that pictures take a bit longer to take on the Essential Phone, which is a bit annoying, but the Essential developers have been constantly working to improve the camera and other parts of the software, and giving bi-weekly updates on reddit which I appreciate
    • * Camera works relatively well -- note that I am NOT a professional
    • 360 camera is pretty nifty too
    • The phone isn't really worth the $350 to me, either .. again despite the wonderful camera
    • However, the camera could be better, a lot better
    • So thrilled I nabbed this premium phone (including camera) for $399 on Black Friday
    • Perfect build quality( Hardware) , but camera so so
    • The camera (which is a huge deal to me) has issues with software
    • The only weak point is the camera app which I immediately replaced with Google's camera app which works instantly and and produces stunning photos/videos.
    • The camera is just fine
    • For the camera freaks out there, simply port the Pixel 2 camera to it and any deficits in the onboard camera are eliminated.
    • Don't like the camera but love stock Android and the build quality
    • Easy to use, good camera
    • Love the 360° camera too
    • The coming 360 camera promises to be a very cool addition
    • Impressive phone, build with top hardware (Snapdragon 835, Adreno 540, 4 GB RAM), beautiful screen with 84.9% screen-to-body ratio (highest in the market), large storage space - 128 GB, best design on the flagship phones (titanium frame / ceramic back), the camera is just fine, the improvement with all the software updates is notorious,
    • It's small things like this that make the Essential phone truly enjoyable to use.+The Camera - While this phone started off with terrible camera performance, the many updates to the camera app have caused me to truly enjoy taking pictures
    • sure the camera could be better, sure the phone could be smoother, but build is great and feels awesome when holding
    • It just shows how important a good camera app combined with excellent hardware really is
    • The camera isn't as bad as everyone has made it seem
    • It's a complete no-brainer unless you really, really want the best camera on the market
    • The camera is not the best, though quite good, especially with the Google
    • The only negatives I have read through research are from phone experts and their biggest complaint is the camera.
    • The negatives are the camera (which has been thoroughly discussed) and the speaker (which is very tinny)
    • This phone has the worst camera among all phones I have owned (premium and budget phones), Period
    • The camera is fine, I think the pictures it takes are good or good enough for me
    • I wanted a phone first and foremost, with texting, a decent camera, and of course Google
    • Take pictures probably like most people so the fact that the camera is not rated the highest does not bother me
    • If you don't like the camera, which I perfectly understand, just download another one
    • The camera on the essential phone is abysmal
    • The camera is very bad
    • The camera is god awful, and extremely slow.
    • The camera keeps improving and Essential is quick to provide updates
    • * Camera: I feel that in good light situations, I like the Essential camera better, even so it is not supposed to be as good as the HTC U11
    • Those who have complained about camera quality and camera speed, I will say first off that I am not a heavy camera user on a smartphone, only taking pictures on occasion so the best camera isn't a high requirement for me, if it is to you, you may want to look at the LG V30 or the
    • Overall, I think it's a great phone that was hampered by the bad camera software upon release and has had a bum rap since then
    • The biggest disappointment on this phone is the camera
    • Awesome build, but buggy camera
    • but i loose network on PH1,also camera quality is poor360 camera is kind of cool
    • The camera is very good not "spectacular", performance is stellar, storage is spectacular.
    • The phone auto updated to Android P out of the box, and Essential has promised AT LEAST updating to Android Q, the camera seems to be the sticking point in a lot of the reviews, but
    • The camera is good quality and would recommend side loading the Google camera app
    • It drains your battery MUCH faster than even 1440p screens for almost no actual visual benefit aside from better camera previews
    • I've seen the complaints about missed touches(not for me) or a bad camera(a little slow in low light but the picture comes out great) and over all software
    • I hope they continue to improve the camera
    • The camera is under rated it works just fine in my opinion
    • I love 360 camera
    • The camera is good
    • When this phone first came out, it was widely criticized for having a bad camera
    • all the time- Super terrible camera- Charger isn't micro-
    • I love the camera
    • Touch was extremely laggy the camera was utterly useless.
    • A little boring)-Not water resistant-Camera performs just okay in low light
    • Camera is horrendous in lowlighting but takes decent pictures in good lighting.
    • Front facing camera looks amazing, as well as the rear camera
    • Even after the camera (which I knew going in would be bad, just not THAT bad) the phone has serious lag while scrolling and crashes apps left and right
    • tl;Dr: camera is wack, speakers are wack, display is wack
    • Personally I like the camera at the top of the screen, rather than an unusable bar taking up part of
    • I bought as well the optional 360° camera and the integration is perfect.
    • The camera could use some improvements, and I wish that the company would make an official stance on hardware support down the road (currently they will not say how much a battery replacement will cost, or even if it will be offered), but at this price ($450 as of this post) I really have no regrets about my purchase.
    • But it is pretty tough when there are better camera apps in some of the low end market phones.
    • but it is a good camera that works
    • camera has improved a lot over updates but still cant stack up to all the major flagships out there, 8/10
    • + Great looks/feel, screen, battery life, speed, decent camera,
    • The camera is actually as bad as they say
    • Camera is very good
    • Camera has a hairline crack in lens, rendering the phone useless for any photography
    • A good camera it is, a great camera it ain't (b/w
    • Camera was terrible but Open Camera and Adobe Lightroom apps showed it actually can take great photos, but those apps aren’t as quick to use as the default even with a button shortcut
    • The camera dropping down in the middle of it really doesn't bother me and it sort of reverses the paradigm
    • The cameras are also of great quality, and the attachment ports on the back really give this phone a tangible edge to the competition (360 degree 4k camera support).I would recommend this to anyone who needs a basic smartphone and doesn't want to upgrade to the newest model every couple years because the old one broke
    • stable and capable camera features, fast charging
    • adapter-Others have reported the camera isn't the greatest.
    • Wow what a phone unbelievable speed and efficiency great battery life and the camera keeps on getting better
    • The camera is a work in progress.
    • You have the oneplus 5 and the huawei honor 8 that give you a much better camera for the price
    • it is a shame that they hobbled the camera in the manner they did as we know that launch press and "buzz" is critical
    • The camera is pretty good, but I'm not a professional photographer
    • The camera may not be the best on the market but its not like everyone with a smartphone is taking professional photos
    • Camera might not be the best, but more then decent and perfectly satisfies my needs
    • said it had a great camera but in reality I found Essential phone has a better camera.(I had a iPhone 7
    • Should have known from the start.- 365 camera never worked properly- stopped working completely one day after phone died
    • Epic bad camera.
    • The camera is good enough for 90% of users
    • The camera is not quite impressive
    • If $500 is too much for you to spend on a phone, and you live in the US, Sprint is currently offering the device for a great price ($25 down and $5 a month for an 18 month flex lease) if you want this phone but aren't sure you want to buy the device outright, and right now, they have a promotion offering the 360 degree camera free with a lease or purchase
    • Camera could surely be better, but not terrible as some make it seem
    • * Camera: You've probably heard many complaints about the camera
    • The camera quite good, but not amazing.
    • Only weaknesses are the mediocre camera and the single loud speaker on the bottom.
    • Camera is OK for my purposes, though every review condemns its camera
    • - Decent camera
    • Updates seem frquent enough, camera works pretty well too.
    • The camera isn't perfect and some have reported digitizer issues, but I honestly haven't experienced any problems
    • I'm coming from a Nextbit Robin, and I feel like the camera is just fine
    • Amazing camera, terrible hardware.
    • And has a very cool 360 camera attachment
    • But the worst thing on the phone is the ever famous camera
    • As far as I'm concerned, the Essential's camera is pretty good
    • The camera is important, but not my highest priority
    • One of the things that i really enjoy about this phone even though everyone else seems to hate its the camera, i really enjoy the mono camera, the regular camera, its not that
    • Shortly after I started seeing essential ads and the beauty of this phone and the camera caught my attention as one of the main things I wanted in a phone was a good camera
    • My old Nexus 6P had a better camera
    • Camera is garbage
    • You'll read that the camera is lacking, and it was for sure right out of the box
    • Many reviews claim the camera is bad, but after the system update I learned that the camera is actually very good, and user friendly
    • I will keep supporting this company as long as they listen to the consumer and continue improving their camera and software.
    • The camera is fine
    • The Essential camera was pretty laggy in taking multiple shots, particularly with HDR on
    • On the negative side: the camera isn't good
    • I have a hard time believing that a camera on a 2017 flagship can actually be this bad
    • The camera is great and it takes pretty nice pictures and videos
    • Especially sunsets as the camera is phenomenal in low light
    • And the biggest issue I'm having is the camera
    • Before this brick, I had a Huawei 6P phone and it has the best phone camera of all the ones I have owned, it took awesome pictures in very much any light conditions or scenario
    • Faster than my nexus 6p , with better camera quality ,same support and great battery life
    • Rest the camera is just awesome
    • Bad camera: fixed, largely
    • Decent camera after they pushed out some updates
    • The latter may sound like a positive but it was laughable how bad the camera was on the phone when this launched
    • But if a top camera is your priority, look elsewhere
    • Not only is the rear camera fantastic, the front camera is as well, making it ideal for taking any kind of photos, from food photos to vacation photos to selfies
    • Good feel and has a good camera
    • It's butter smooth, the camera is solid, not quite Pixel 2 like but acceptable.
    • They have also improved the camera (though it's still a work in progress, it's generally good enough)
    • I would prefer two speakers instead of one, and a little better camera wich is quality but doesn't quite measure up to the Pixel, Samsung or the iPhone.
    • , let's hope the second iteration of this device will have a better camera and will finally solve jittery scrolling.
    • The camera works pretty darn well
    • I was able to port Google's (superior) camera app and Android 8.1 days after purchase
    • This phone checks all the boxes for me: 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a good camera setup, beautiful screen, and great battery life
    • Yes, there are better cameras and camera software; but media reports of poor quality are greatly exaggerated
    • The camera is ridiculous, for Pete sake the thing takes 4K videos and pictures, enough said there
    • The camera is slow I wish it was better tuned.
    • In short, this phone’s camera is good in its current state
    • The camera isn't great on it, but you can upgrade it
    • and the 360 camera works pretty darn good too during my vacation
    • First of all, the camera is great
    • I found out just how important the camera is to me when my 2 year old was doing something cute, and i was unable to capture it with the slow and unresponsive camera.
    • However the camera lacks badly - and Essential knows it
    • A flagship phone needs a decent camera
    • Some minor software quirks and not the best camera, but these are easy to overlook for the price it's currently selling for.
    • The only negativity I've read about the PH-1 is its camera.
    • And the camera is as bad as reviewers say
    • The software experience will improve regularly, and with Essential supporting the ROM community by releasing their Kernel Source, you can bet the sky will be the limit... so ignore the Camera, ignore the lean, lackluster software, ignore the yet to be experienced "lag" or "lock-ups"
    • It's still not close to the best available phone camera, but it's good for most uses
    • The operation of this phone is very smooth and fast, they are updating constantly and the camera is great
    • The bad:-The camera
    • Maybe the camera could be slightly better but my expectations from a phone camera are limited to start with .2
    • The camera, while very good, freezes constantly when processing pictures
    • The 360 camera works GREAT
    • So often, it freezes for 5 to 10 minutes and there's nothing you can do about it, the camera is horrible no matter the improvements (even though I have noticed none) it shouldn't be this bad for this price
    • Camera has improved a lot even in low light
    • The Camera is excellent but could perform better in low light, I hear a lot about the display being too dim and can be hard to see in sunlight
    • The camera on this phone is the WORST
    • If you don't mind this, than it's a great camera
    • Many phone reviewers have trashed the camera, probably because they were using a version that Essential should never have sent out
    • The camera also isn't as bad as the professional reviews make out
    • So that being said you can launch the camera simply by double tapping the power button on your device and this works from anywhere so what do you device is off in standby or your checking something and the Earth takes a real quick
    • it is all screen, the camera app and camera work great
    • Even still, I was wary of the Essential because of many reviews criticizing the camera and the responsiveness
    • Camera too has improved a lot.
    • The camera is mediocre.
    • I didn't get a phone with the detachable 360 degree camera, so I can't tell you how well that performs
    • The camera still isnt the best in the market, the camera app its awfully oversimplistic, but overall a great phone.
    • Hell, even the camera is more than adequate after the upgrades
    • , camera is good but could be better
    • Is the camera great
    • Camera with all the updates is pretty decent
    • I agree with the reviewers wishing for a better camera and application.
    • My biggest pet peeve is the front camera it is subpar in low light compared to the HTC U11, OP5 and Pixel XL to name a few and for the price range this unit falls into its not worth the money
    • Solid buildPure androidFast updatesDecent camera updatesGreat 🔋Bad
    • You can use the stock photo app or one of several other more feature rich camera apps available in the app store
    • Worst camera I have ever experienced on a smart phone, and not just in low light
    • Love it so far, great camera nice bokeh effect in portrait mode, very fast opening as, 0 bloatware, great battery life ( lasts me the whole day) fast charge, overall an easy 9/10
    • If you don't care about having a "great" camera (although almost worth it for the black/white camera), and don't use Bluetooth, I'm not sure you can do much better at the price point
    • Camera could have been little better and no head phone jack.
    • Camera makes buzzing sound and doesn't focus.-Bad camera
    • Fast operation system and good battery life, camera works much better with software update
    • The camera works fine for me
    • If you want a pure Android phone with a great display, camera, battery & able to use it with one hand the Essential phone is hands down the best smartphone for the price.
    • The camera is great, no complaints
    • I wasn't interested in any of the extra accessory gadgets for this phone (only a 3d camera available at this point) so if you're into that, you might enjoy this phone more than I did
    • After playing around with the controversial camera on both devices, I am happy with returning my Pixel 2 in a few days
    • Camera is ok, not terrible, but everything else about the phone screams flagship and quality
    • The Camera isn’t good as a top smartphone on the market but it will easy fix when they update the camera software, and this phone is not the waterproof phone
    • So, what’s the verdict on this supposedly terrible camera
    • Mediocre camera and not comparable to S8 or iPhones
    • For me I like taking pichutes, so I don't mind paying more for the best camera
    • The camera is good, but it's pretty great if you sideload the Google Pixel camera.
    • The camera is good
    • its build quality is great except awful camera, disgusting design and baby crying like speaker.
    • The Essential camera's portrait mode works well, nicely blurring the background while keeping the subject sharp
    • The camera would show so many errors when trying to use it and the camera sucks too by the way when it does work
    • But at $700 it was not worth the money (more on the price drop at bottom). In the end I chose to return the Essential Phone and stick with my old iPhone because the Essential was less reliable and had a vastly inferior camera
    • so I know what a good camera
    • Average , I prefer LG G6 or V30 for Camera over essential Ph1 however if you expect a best camera experience then this phone may disappoint you
    • Camera has gotten very good in last few updates
    • Make no mistake, the Pixel 2 has a wonderful camera
    • Good quality camera and the developers do a great job updating it constantly.
    • Which gives the phone the ability to just about do anything a modern Flagship should be able to do aside from super slow motion videos you guys and gals should really enjoy the cameras on this device I
    • x pure: runs Android; great looking, large, and very bright screen; great audio from the front facing stereo speakers; great camera; no bloatware; a quick way to launch the camera which was the same whether locked or unlocked; fast and smooth; durable and scratch-resistant; a headphone jack
    • It was to be expected and overall I'm very happy to say that the cameras on this device are really good whether you need to take photos or videos as long as you have the proper lighting you should be good to go
    • Camera is important to me.
    • (Lasted 20 hours off a single charge)+Nice QHD Display with nice contrast+Great Camera (dispite
    • The blue tooth works great, the camera is good enough for me.
    • THE CAMERA SUCKS in low light, even with the latest software update
    • Also mine is running Android 8.1 and the camera is not as bad as everyone says of course it not as good as the Google Pixel or the Samsung Galaxy
    • The camera was performing great for me, but the latest update
    • Perfect phone, but bad camera
    • Great camera
    • Even the camera is awesome, which everyone seems to have a problem with
    • Essential Phone's camera is like 2012 quality
    • Love the little camera you can add to it too for 360 pictures and 360 video and in 4k
    • oh where to start with this review,-Prosthe phone has a few pros, camera is pretty good, for the price of this device its pretty good
    • The native camera app is the big drawback but besides the regular updates that have been improving the camera, it's easy to find instructions to load the Google camera app.
    • Even worse, my iPhone's camera is vastly superior to what Andy Ruben gave us with the Essential Phone.
    • For the negatives not many - camera is acceptable but not fantastic, a little heavy, and screen is dimmer than some.
    • ( + ) Fast camera
    • This phone has a great camera in my opinion
    • Second biggest problem, the camera
    • Camera is decent
    • The camera won't focus, and audio won't work from the USB port.
    • I'm giving the camera 4/5 stars because it certainly doesn't rival Pixel 2 or iPhone X photos, but it's decent enough for my casual use, and its dual lenses/portrait mode are a significant upgrade from my previous iPhone 6s more limited functionality
    • Personally I really like a good camera but after using the phone for the last few weeks I was happy to make the compromise
    • The camera is not the best in low light situations, but I rarely take photos at night so this isn't really a problem for me as I have a photography camera that is much more well suited for things of that nature
    • The software is glitchy, and the camera is substandard even by last year's standards
    • I like the dual cameras and b/w pictures
    • If you really are a professional or honestly are heavy in detailed pictures and not just wanting the best camera specs then yes I would recommend another phone
    • But the camera on this phone is abysmal - it is so, so bad that I don't even know what to compare it to
    • The camera is fine and constantly being updated
    • It is not as good as other phone cameras
    • - camera is ok, but not amazing
    • This phone has a ton of memory, great speed, can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, has a good camera, is intuitive to use AND actually gets very frequent software updates.
    • Cons:- Pretty bad camera, so camera app is a must
    • Great display and a very good camera
    • After the recent updates, it’s a good camera with the potential to be great, if Essential continues to make incremental adjustments, which they do seem to be committed to
    • Only issue is the camera as I have used several camera apps and still no help.
    • I with it was OLED, and the phone had a better camera...
    • 3T has a mediocre camera and it blows this phone away
    • On a brighter note, the 360 camera was pretty awesome
    • Perfect phone, but bad camera
    • Simpy a great device, specially after downloading and installing the free Google camera app
    • This seemed to be a common issue with the early batches (I purchased the phone in October 2017).Otherwise, aside from the touch latency and the slow camera (at the time; updates seemed to have improved the performance), the phone was solid.
    • Pros: fast processor, no bloatware, large storage, great interface, great camera, lots of available appsCons: cannot charge and use earphones at the same time because there’s only one jack input, speaker is one end and phone has to be tilted to hear well, then tilt again to respond, charger is proprietaryI heard that Essentials was going to be sold to another company and but so far the company is still sending updates to the operating system.
    • Camera fine for me.
    • (Camera is really good though, that's what I was worried most about
    • on the rear of the device up top we have laser auto focus do LED flash and two 13 megapixel cameras 1 primary camera and 1 monochrome camera
    • Need I say more?-Amazing black/white camera
    • The camera is pretty good, I have taken pictures and had them printed at the store without editing and they turned out very good
    • The Camera isn’t good as a top smartphone on the market but it will easy fix when they update the camera software, and this phone is not the waterproof phone
    • The camera is great, no complaints
    • I would give 5 stars if it was not for a not so good camera quality.
    • I like the stock Android experience, camera is ok for my needs
    • - Pixel's camera is AWESOME.
    • Now, in poor lighting, the Essential camera is not very good
    • I feel like the camera takes better pics than my iPhone did
    • Camera is pretty bad.
    • The camera would lock up causing reboot (and missing the photo opportunity)
    • Lacking good camera features which is sad for flagship device
    • Junk speakers and camera
    • And you don't have an ugly camera bump
    • low quality speakerno strap holeother than that it is perfect.personally, front camera was unnecessary.
    • The worst camera I have ever seen on a phone with this price tag
    • The camera has never been better than sub par
    • At $699 the price was just too high for a phone with buggy software and a very poor camera app
    • solid phone..amazing display and camera ..great buy !!
    • A decent camera
    • As the fancy new port is such a big deal it seems like the camera should just be included
    • The portrait mode camera update I added from the Play store, and it has been a surprisingly good camera.
    • As many other reviews said, the camera on the phone is bad
    • 360 camera is a wonder to record your kids and friends/parents
    • The camera, while very good, freezes constantly when processing pictures
    • A better camera option is required with this device
    • Granted, the iPhone 10 has a better camera then this
    • Really it is now a great camera
    • I then have to go to Best buy and pay $40 for a type c fast charger like the one that comes with this phone
    • I do wish it had a dedicated headphone jack but the included USB-C adapter works well enough and seems to be of high quality
    • Crosschecked the USB-C to UCB-C cable and (AUT) power adapter, all working fine
    • 845 chipset(c) Worst complaint is on the lack of headphone.
    • Every time the phone is plugged in to the charger, any charger, I have several different usb-c chargers, slow, fast, standard usb, doesn't matter, it will not charge
    • My Bose QC25 headphones do not work properly with the USB-C/3.5mm adapter
    • They include a great charger and USB-C to headphone cable
    • No headphone jack (I love USB-C)
    • I picked up a USB-C fast charger that matched the 27 watt output of the factory charger and the phone will not fast charge when connected to it.
    • Every time the phone is plugged in to the charger, any charger, I have several different usb-c chargers, slow, fast, standard usb, doesn't matter, it will not charge
    • It just works as
    • Regarding the negative:[-] Delay in saving the picture when using the default camera app (this don't bother me too much as I didn't take photo that
    • I have never broken a
    • It worked as good as on my Nexus 5x
    • but it lacks some of the features that the rear facing camera includes those features being portrait mode, 120 frames per second slow motion, monochrome video and monochrome photo, as well as we don't have a front-facing flash on this device
    • and it may not be as smooth as a
    • Screen is clear and bright (IPS In Plane Switching), but it's not OLED, so if you use in bed at night, the screen doesn't dim down as much as I'd like (compared to my old Nexus 6 OLED screen).
    • just works as it should for me.
    • Updates are available at least as fast as on Google's own phones, if not sooner
    • A couple of my installed Apps are not working as yet, but they will be updated soon.
