I get a loud pop sound that if I had the volume up full on my amp might be harmful to hearing

I had high hopes for this pedal but unfortunately it disappointed me with strange pops and crackles every time I turn a knob

I have two of these now and both produce a loud "POP" the first time you step on the switch after plugging them in.
