I have owned a couple of low end coffee grinders but they never did a decent job of grinding up the beans

If you need grinder especially for multiple styles (pourovers and presses), this would work and it does a good job of oil retention.
-
However, if you do not do a good job with the knocker, you put yourself in a really bad position where you mix the air stale grounds with new beans.
-
Alternatively, a silicone lid that goes flush against the grinds chute might have done a better job at containing the mess; as it is, the lid doesn't go all the way up, so you still end up with some grinds flying out

I love how easy the grinds pour from the cup as well, and the knocker does a decent job of getting that last little bit in, though I have found that I have to tap it quiet a few times more than you'd think
