The pretentiousness of purchasing some overpriced water in a bottle when you can just as easily get water from the sink, or much cheaper filtered water from the store was staggering to me

drinking this all the time, and then try your cheap 'filtered' water bottles.

Fridge filters fall under this category of inefficient filters

If you want fresh, filtered water every day at home, I'd suggest getting a water cooler with 5-gallon bottles

Most of those cheap water filters are able to get out considerable amounts of a few very common contaminants
