You'd be a fool (or insane) to think this is the best Fire Emblem game, or best game in general, to date

the game play is classic fire emblem with the option to play casual or classic (where characters who die are not available any more)

One of the greatest Fire Emblem games could use a few improvements here and there, but otherwise a 9/10 for me.

I don't necessarily *approve* of the addition of casual mode, since perma-death is a pretty significant part of fire emblem as a whole (and important in that it ensures that you are more heavily invested in the characters)

It's not my favorite Fire Emblem game, but it's certainly the one I spent the most time playing thanks to all its content.

I've always loved Fire Emblem and I looked forward to this title for a while

One final thing I want to mention is that it was such a nice gesture for Intelligent Systems to allow you to recruit many of the characters from all the old Fire Emblem games free of charge.

Quick take away: if you enjoy Fire Emblem, JRPGs, SRPGs, or some combination of the three do yourself a favor and buy this

Ultimately, Awakening is a very good Fire Emblem, but as its flaws stack and become more apparent as the game progresses, it becomes clear that it is not the BEST Fire Emblem.

It is VERY difficult if you play on harder difficulties and not on casual mode, especially if you're one of those Fire Emblem players that do not like to leave any team member behind.
